T2050 Explorer Mini Wireless Commercial Thermostat

In order to connect that Venstar Explorer Mini thermostat to wi-fi you have to use app called Configurator, which is not available at App Store any longer. Then, you have to add it to another app called: Venstar Skyport, which asking 6-digit code. But... you only get that code if connect to wifi through Configurator. Useless, device. Fan speed: unable to change fan speed.

Bought this to replace a 5+ year old T5800 ColorTouch that stopped connecting to WiFi. Worked for a week, and then went into constant reboot kicking the compressor on and off in the process. Venstar has always been solid but not a good experience with this cheaper model. Returned and purchased a Venstar ColorTouch T7850.

Very nice thermostat in concept. The local api was the draw for me and this worked very well, once it was properly configured. This would be a glowing review but for these two issues: 1. It would 'heat up' inside after turning on the AC, and would show temperatures roughly 4-5F too high. This made the AC run longer than necessary, and as soon as it shut off the AC, it registered temps 4-5F lower in a short period of time. I replaced an existing thermostat and never had the issue with the old one. 2. It failed completely after only a few months. Nothing I did (breakers, powercycling, wiring, etc.) resurrected it. I ended up replacing it with the old thermostat, which worked just fine. So, my experience was poor, although I love the idea and wish it worked well. I hope mine was an isolated incident and that they continue to make local api thermostats.

Works as instructed. Directions are easy to follow. Easy to set up on the app. Will be ordering again when and if needed.
