Highly recommend
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I absolutely love this product. My daughter had watched their videos maybe 4 times before I ordered the cards. When she saw the box she said “you bought me an of book?” I was confused at first then realized she knew that sight word and read it! She knew about 10 the first time we practiced. It hasn’t even been a month and she knows all but 6! We don’t practice the cards or watch the videos daily (like 1 a week). She’s 2.5

AMAZING!!!
I bought this set for my 2 1/2 year old after talking with some mom friends about what their kids needed to know going into kindergarten. One friend said her son needed to know 100 sight words, another mom friend said 50. I said "what's a sight word?!?!?!" I am not a dumb woman, but I certainly don't remember what I needed to know starting kindergarten and I really don't recall the term "sight words" lol Amazon being my favorite shopping source, I did a search and these came up. I remember throughout my pregnancy seeing a ton of ads in pregnancy magazine about Preschool Prep Company and its dvd programs. I thought the price was reasonable and went for it. The first time I put one of the DVDs in, my son watched it for all of two seconds and walked away. I continued watching and couldn't blame him. It was boring and, honestly, annoying. I figured I'd wasted my money and set it aside. A week later my kid hands me the dvd to put on. For one week straight, all he wanted to watch, repeatedly, was "word DVDs". He was glued to the tv as they played over and over. Even when he did get up to play, I left them running as background noise and he would return every once in a while then wander off again but he was always listening. I got the flash cards that coincide with the set of DVDs because my son likes doing flash cards. We were headed to the zoo shortly after his week of non stop sight word DVDs and i had brought the flash cards with me on a whim. During a traffic jam, I got them out and, wouldn't you know it, my son knew every word without any help from me. There are over 50 words in this particular program. From there when we would read a book, I'd stop and let him read the sight words he learned. He was jazzed because he was now reading with momma! Reading became a different more exciting experience for him. He had liked letters and numbers early on so we had been working on phonics early, probably right after he turned two and really started taking (he was a late talker!) so that plus the sight word dvd set had him reading by himself two months before he turned 3. I think this program is fantastic and worth the investment! I have gotten him a few more DVDs from this company and he's picking the material up very quickly! I'm glad I bought this set, I encourage you to do the same, and don't give up on it if your kid (or you lol) doesn't care for it at first. It grows on them and they are absorbing so much more than we realize! Great product, highly positive experience for us!!!

Perfect companion for the videos
My 2.5 year old knows all of these sight words from watching the videos and he LOVES doing the flash cards. I thought I'd have to start by showing him the character side first for him to know the word, but he knew them with the plain text side already! The words that have an "a" in them come with 2 cards....one with the a and one with the lowercase a that looks like an o with a tail on it (if that makes sense).Fairly large size, perfect for toddler hands.

Great flashcard set! A must have for kids learning sight words!
This flashcard pack really enhances the Meet the Sight Words 1-3 DVD set (Meet the Sight Words Box Set (Meet the Sight Words 1, Meet the Sight Words 2, Meet the Sight Words 3)). My son was struggling with any DVD program because they were targeted for "babies". We have created lots of games to play while using these flashcards and watching the videos. My 5 year old learned all 47 sight words with only viewing each video 4 times and he still wants to watch them. Games:1. Flyswatters to hit the flashcards for the words shown on the screen (provided in another reviewer's feedback)2. Flyswatter Race - pick up correct flashcard with flyswatter and make it back to parent without dropping it before next word appears on the screen3. Use shaving cream to write the words that appear on the screen - use flashcards to help with spelling if DVD moves on to next word4. Flashcard Hunt - hide flashcards around the house then play the DVD5. Flashcard Jump - show a flashcard and have child jump up and say the word. (Helps with children with extra energy)6. Flashcard Dash - place the cards around a large room or throughout the house, play the DVD and have your child run to stand on the correct flashcard

Awesome
Absolutely love this. Got recommended this by this guy on YouTube who taught his children to read and write. My son loves watching the videos with it and doing his sight words. High recommend using both.

Large size
These are larger than I expected… maybe 5x7? I would have preferred smaller like 3x5.

Larger than expected, will teach sight words fast when coupled with the video
Using picture embedded words to teach sight words is a proven way to get kids recognizing site words faster. These are large, attractive cards that for whatever reason kids are drawn to and they think they are fun even though they are learning dry content. They are a bit flimsy but still worth the price because of how effective they are. If you combine this with the preschool prep sight word dvd your kids will know the most common sight words fast.
