Nice model
Great model just as it was advertised. No complaints about it what so ever. Got it more quick then I thought I would

Highly recommended. Extremely well detailed and excellent value considering that photoetch is included for everything but the radar. Anchor chain is molded on so that needs to be removed and replaced with brass chain. Also, the model has the rear anchor pointed the wrong way, but those issues are easy to fix. Skill and patience are needed, but the instructions are very good, and the parts fit is also very good. An excellent model.

Soft plastic - non fittig parts
I am sorry to disagree with most modelers. This kit is made of very soft plastic, and its pieces do not always fit nicely (see photo). The transparent acrylic floatplane is a shame. Furthermore, instructions could have been much better. The good thing is the scale 1/350, being it much bigger than you would expect as compared to the 1/400 scale, of which I have one of its sister ships, the Lutzow , by Heller, a much nicer quality. As for photo etchings, I dont see the point of turning a warship into a cheap looking shiny golden thing. It could be OK for a yatch, not for a warship. The aft turret does not turn since it back part touches the ship's superstructure. A shame (see photo).Heller's 1/400 model is better quality, but overall, the scale (1/350) makes the difference. Academy's kit in the same scale is MUCH better.

Great deal for the money.
This is a great model for a modeler with a little experience. Nice photo etch details, and well molded plastic as well. It is a handy size, large enough that you will not strain your eyes, yet not so large that you will not have any place to put the finished model. Remember, photo-etched parts require bending, and careful application of cyanoacrylic (super) glue.
