SC-709 Portable MP3/CD Player with Cassette Recorder, AM/FM Radio & USB Input

This Player has the features I was looking for in CD player. It plays CD's as well as MP3 that I make on my home computer. I wanted a head phone jack and it has that too. I have not use the flash drive reader that is built in to the player, but I will in the future. I have not used the cassette player either, but I'm sure I will at some time. My only complaint with this player is the remote control that came with it. It quit working the second time I used it. I don't really need it but it was nice to have.

After searching for a portable product that would play MP3 CDs, and cassettes, and with a USB input port, I found a huge range of prices. I read available reviews online, and found nothing to discourage me from trying this, the lowest-priced unit I could find. So perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised to open the box and see a shiny, plastic-y, very tacky looking unit. I read the instruction leaflet before unpacking the player, still thinking I might want to return it. It appears to do all the things it was advertised to do. I tried a MP3 CD that I had burned, and it worked fine. Tried a commercial CD, also great. The sound is a little lightweight and tinny, but it will be playing audiobooks 99% of the time, and not trying to sound like an orchestra. My first complaint is that there is no Power On/Power Off button! Can you believe it? The instructions say I should unplug it from the wall socket! After I used it to play one commercially-produced cassette, front and back, it stopped playing cassettes. After I used it to play approximately 10 CDs (a combination of commercially-produced and MP3 CDs burned on my computer), it stopped playing CDs. Mama always said "You get what you pay for," and she must be laughing at me now. I will try to return this unit and cough up the money for a Sony player, which (I know) is what I should've done in the first place.

This is my first time review since I ordered from Amazon. I need USB player because I want to listen my class recorded lectures. I do not like to use headphone long time. When I listen to the sound, it likes to be the same Sound in my class! I only worry about turn off switch because one of review writer said, there is no turn off switch with low rating. This is wrong information. This player has turn off switch button = tape band selection button! Also, this unit has headphone jack, it really need to listen at library. I bought brand name NAXA player in Frys but I returned it. There are no headphone jack. everybody must be fair. Do not expect very expensive player vs. this good price player. I satisfied this player, sound is good too. This is good value, compare price I paid only $45. There is AUX jack for external player. I have small sony recorder, I can hook up with this aux jack, I can hear without USB recording. It's very convenient. There are not DC power Jack thus I can not use in the car. But I can use rechargeable "C" battery. I still give five star!^^

I purchased this MP3/CD boombox because no retailer in my city of about one million people seemed to have such a boombox available; including Best-Buy and Walmart; their employees did not even know what I was talking about when I requested this item. So I ordered it from an Amazon.com Marketplace seller and hoped it would not get broken in transit. Well the seller sent it over 2,000 miles UPS and it arrived in perfect condition. I don't know much about electronics, but I am very pleased with this boombox. It is attractive and appears well made and durable to me. The radio, cassette recorder/player, CD player (which also plays CDs in MP3 format--such as talking book--I have one CD in MP3 format which contains the entire Old Testament in narration) all play and sound great to me. The cassette player will record from either the radio or CD player. As you can see, I am pleased with this item. Perhaps you will be to, if you decide to take a chance and order it. Of course, you can always return it if you don't like it; but that is such an inconvenience.

I have this cute little box next to my easel in my studio. I have listened to books on CD and my music. Very clear and a good quality for the price. I don't like the radio, so I have another older boom box for that. I just don't like the way this one opens up for the cd's - it doesn't quite open up enough, and I have to twist sideways my cd's and I have slim hands and it is still a lsight struggle!

It is okay as what I wanted but I didn't realize it didn't have the extra button to increase the bass sound. Also, the electrical cord won't insert firmly and if you touch the player just a little, it comes out! Manufacturer needs to know about this. I ordered two of these players and the cord is like this for both of them! Otherwise it works fine.

I read a few people not liking this so when it came I was wary. Found out it functions great. The dials Have a very rigid feel to them. There are little click increments to the volume and selector knobs.They do not "turn". I think some thought it not working, but the increments are very small so you can fine tune the volume, radio stations, ect. The use I got it for was to paly my data stick full of 100 cds. Oh yeah!! Works like a charm. HAPPY HAPPY LOVE IT. And you can tape from the radio!! Both digital onto data stick OR onto cassette tape. I am a person who wears out solid state record players,cassettes,and cd players. This is getting a lot of use and it gets good reception on the antenna. Great item for the price!

Bought two of these a few years ago. One was a gift, and I had to get it exchanged for my daughter. She has never liked it, and it has never performed properly. Mine is o.k. but not good. I searched a long time to find a boombox that had several features (mp3, cassette, CD, and radio), and this is the only one I could find. Maybe there's something that fits these requirements now, but do NOT buy this particular model. I would never buy another Supersonic product myself.
