Great pot for boiling water or simmering stews or chili
I bought this pot a while ago and have used it for pasta, chili etc. I bought this pot to replace the large, thin, single stainless steel one I had which would never boil water without the lid on and took forever to heat up. I did not want aluminum to touch my food, I did not want the issues with non stick. I did not want a single use pot..but boiling water is done frequently. This All-Clad pot looks nice and is well made. The inside surface is polished...I think this is the key to good stainless cookware as it allows food to release easier. Season your SS pans and you will be amazed how non stick they can be.I use it on an 1800W portable induction burner and it works fine, still takes a while for a full pot. When I boil water on my electric stove, I can see water boil from the sides of the pot. This means I can set a low simmer and the heat is not just at the bottom of the pot, scorching my food. The only thing is the lid gets hot but a large wooden spoon or hot pad is required to left the lid, once boiling. If your looking to just boil water there may be cheaper options, but not better looking, as long lasting or as well made.

Almost perfect
4.5/5.0 stars.Bought this to replace a pricey anodized 8 Qt stock pot that has lost its protective layer over the years. Stainless steel is the ultimate kitchen material and i'm slowly replacing everything as the lesser stuff fails. Buy once cry once. The quality of the pot itself is top notch. Beautifully finished. Sturdy but not too heavy. The one i got was clearly brand new. Wasn't so much as a scratch or fingerprint anywhere on it.Only negative (and reason for my 4.5/5.0 rating) is that the insert, as others have noted, is noticeably not of the same quality as the pot. The finish isn't quite the same and mine is a little out of round, which makes it not quite stable. It's still better than just about anything else you'll see out there, but at this price range and brand i'm used to flawless.

Perfect for our needs
We were looking for a spaghetti pot that didn’t have Teflon and that didn’t take forever to heat up like those thin all-stainless pots. This works like a charm and the built in strainer is such a convenient bonus.Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but if you’re trying to wean yourself off Teflon or Aluminum pots, and you don’t mind paying a little extra for sturdy, high-quality cookware — this is a great choice

This was a lower quality replacement pot for the one I originally ordered and never received. Amazon failed to perform.
Works fine with my induction cooktop. However, I really wanted the copper core version that I originally ordered. The fact that Amazon did not honor my order for one has earned it a black eye! I suppose I could have insisted on my legal right to one under contract law but it was not worth the hassle. After all, it's only a pot. And I still have "...the window to throw it out of." (LOL).

Don't over fill it!
I see people complaining that they had boil over or water squirting out everywhere. Don't fill it past the small holes in the insert. The large holes at the top are there to prevent the boil over.Update 6/5/2020The insert developed a vertical split making it useless. Covid has their phone center closed so I will try and contact all clad through email.Update 9/28/2020Finally got to a customer service rep through their website. I provided the same pic I posted here. They sent me a link to get a shipping label from UPS. I shipped the defective insert to them and they promptly shipped a new one to me. All- Clad stood behind their product!Update 1/9/2021Here we go again. The second insert is developing a split just as the first one did! Awaiting All-Clad's reply to my warranty request. I downgraded my rating to three stars. The pot is the outstanding All-Clad quality we all know but the inserts are evidently made in China and the quality is absolute crap!

Perfect much-used addition to kitchen!
This might be my favorite pot! Hesitated for a bit because of price but definitely worth every penny! Great construction, perfect size, inside unit works perfectly. Wish I had bought this years ago!

Great cooking tool
Always wanted this pot, but hesitated to buy it. The stainless looks great and I like the fact that it is claimed to be induction capable to "future proof" it. Large enough to make a substantial quantity of pasta, but not so large that you have to use tons of water. Also great to blanch regetables since the insert serves as your collander to remove them quickly.

Quality product and used mostly for cooking pasta.

Buon appetito !
