just what I needed to replace old failing sensors!
our 14-year old alarm sensors are starting to fail... one by one, they trigger the alarm to go off at random times. Rather than having the alarm company come out for $100 per visit, plus the cost of the parts... I just buy these as needed and switch them out. Search youtube for videos with step by step instructions for removing the old sensor and installing the new one in the alarm system. Now that I know how to do it, it takes minutes to replace them.I've replaced 3 so far, and anticipate needing to do more as they continue to fail. Very happy with these so far!

Replace for Vista 20P anf 6150RF
Have an old Vista 20P with a 6150RF keypad and had a Window sensor go bad. Picked this 5816 hoping it was compatible and it was!The only issue I had, was that the older 6150 keypads require you to blindly reprogram. So if you have a 6160 you'd be fine, otherwise you're going to have to figure out a way to have someone walk you through the setup (that is no fault of this product). The only downside that I didn't like with this sensor, was I found it extremely difficult to get the cover off. My older sensor you just depressed a tab and they popped right off. This new one was so hard, I basically had to use a screwdriver to pry the cover off. Luckily I won't have to replace the battery for 5 to 10 years :)

Works with ADT Quick Connect
I bought this to replace a faulty sensor on my ADT Quick Connect system.Of course, ADT wanted $100+ to send a guy out to punch in the code to activate the new sensor.I asked them to give me instructions on how to setup the new sensor and they refused (because according to them, they have to supply me with one, so they can charge me double or triple what this honeywell 5816 is worth)So this is what you do to replace a sensor.go to http://intellahome.com/alarmpdfs/lynxplusinstall.pdf and download and print this manual. It applies exactly to the quick connect systemThen go to your security panel and punch6321 800 (you should see programming menu on screen..if you do not, stop as your configuration may be different)*(now you should have a blank screen)*56 (this will put you on the zone configuration menu)then type the 2 digit zone number you need to modifyThen follow pages 38-41 on the instruction manualBasically you have to delete the serial number of your existing zone, then place the menu on autolearn, and with this new sensor (the lid and battery has to be on) place the magnet on the side of the sensor, You will hear 1 beep. Take the magnet away for a few seconds, and then place it against the sensor again, you will hear a 2nd beep and the serial information will be filled automatically on the screen.Keep pressing * until you get to the next zone #, then press 00 * 99 to exitFYI, this sensor has to be setup in the following configuration on the Quick connectZone type = 03 (perimeter) should show B03 on screenReport Code = 10 (should show C10 on screen)Input type = 3 (should show D3)If system asks for LOOP NUMBER, use 2 (for the magnet type) or 1 (for the wired type)

This product is the exact product sold by Honeywell to match up with the base unit security system. It arrived in a timely manner and was easy to install

Don’t buy it!
Don’t buy it! It worked intermittently- just long enough for me to pair it with my system and throw away the box. It stopped working not 8 hours later. Now I don’t have the box and am out over $20. This thing needed a shelf life date.

Just what was needed
We have an older ADT 3000EN system with a 5882 receiver. One of our wireless perimeter sensors was intermittently going off, waking us up in the middle of the night and signaling the PD. I didn't think I could get a replacement sensor and was going to permanently disable the faulty one.I came across this one on Amazon. It looked identical and replaced the old one perfectly. I was a little intimidated to install it because of the programming, but if you review on-line articles and the ADT installer's manual it is straight-forward. Took about 20 minutes to install and program. If you are not comfortable doing this, then better to pay a pro as there are opportunities to mess up.I liked this so much that I decided to order a second one to have around as a spare.
