Bringing back vinyl.
A couple of months ago I was given a box of records with some really good 70's and 80's rock in it. My dilemma...no record player. I hadn't owned or played a record in probably 20+ years. My first choice was to check Amazon to see what was available and to get the chance to read the reviews on each player. I decided to go with the Jensen 3-Speed Stereo Turntable with AM/FM Stereo Radio - JTA-220 (Silver) because of the lower price and the nice number of good reviews. I was thinking that, for the price, I could buy this player to get started and then later I would look for something better. I placed my order with Vann's Inc. on a Wednesday night and received it the following Friday! Right out of the box and on a table it went. When the first record started, memories of being a kid and listening to my favorite bands on LPs came flooding back. The built-in speakers are not for anyone who demands perfect sound quality, but for me, it reminded me of the player I had as a kid. I connected a pair of speakers from another stereo to the external speaker jacks and cranked it up! With vinyl records it seems like the louder you turn them up, the better they sound. It's like our ears were made to listen to vinyl albums, not CDs or MP3 recordings. What a great experience it is to be sitting in the floor in front of the speakers, listening to music and having this large album cover to hold and look at. The radio sounds good and gets good reception in the area that I live in. I am happy with the overall quality of the player. The dust cover that can be used while you are playing 33 1/3 albums is a great feature. I noticed on some of the other smaller players that you had to remove the lid to do this. It is such a nice, simple player that you can easily move around your house or even take outside if you like. I know mine is going to be the entertainment for a few backyard parties this year! And about this being my starter player and buying a "better" one later...not gonna' happen. This player is perfect for my needs and will be used for years to come!

Great Buy!
This is a fantastic record player! I could not be more happy with it. I have had this product for over two months and I have not had a single issue with it, and I use it pretty much everyday. The only issue I see ever coming up is switching out the needle. However there is a sheet inside the box that has information on where to order an extra needle. They are also really inexpensive, 5 for the needle and 3 for shipping. AND they don't have to replaced too often, especially if it isn't used every single day. Before buying my record player I had read reviews that said the internal speakers were bad and that it is impossible to hear. But the volume on the internal speakers is amazing. I think people weren't making sure the switch on the back of the record player was set to internal speakers. Also, the knob that allows you to go from Phono to AM has to be clicked all the way to phono. The reason people were having issues with the sound even after it was set to internal speakers is because the knob was not clicked all the way. If you are still unsatisfied with the sound of the internal speakers you are able to hook up external speakers, which is a really neat option to have. The picture makes it seem like the record player is bulkier than it actually is. The lid on the record player is able to shut completely while a record is playing. There are slots in the lid that allow that, which is really neat.Overall, I would 100% recommend this record player to anyone who is interested in getting their hands on their first record player!Good luck!

Better Than I Though it Would Be!!!
First off let me start by saying that I have several degrees in music and am also a professional musician and music teacher(dollyspice.com). I remember playing records as a young child (5 or 6) so I really didn't know anything about record players. It took me a couple of weeks to decide which one I would go with. I didn't have an extra $500 laying around to invest in one so I thought I take a gamble and get this one. It is AMAZING!I honestly don't know what is wrong with people, but the speakers are PLENTY loud and VERY good quality. I expected to have to get external speakers, but these are perfect. If you want it to sound like your ipod, than why bother getting a record player? It's all about the experience. Also, if you have half a brain it is easy to use--there is an on/off button and a switch for 3 different speeds, how much simpler do you get? As far as quality, I thinks it's good. The lid doesn't feel flimsy, and yes parts of it are delicate, but again, it is a RECORD PLAYER. You can't just toss them around like you can modern day equipment. The parts are different. Only thing that might be a con is that the turn table is a bit wroberly so it EVER SO SLIGHTLY bends the sound a little every now and then, but it is SO un-noticable and I actually like it. I like that added old timey feel. I got this as a way to experience music in a new way, and it is doing it's job...and the price is UNBEATABLE. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!!!!!! :D
