Magnavox RZV427MG9 Refurbished DVD/VCR Combo with DVD Recorder

I bought this with the goal of transferring my old VHS taped to DVD when I found out how much places charge for that service. It works fine for that purpose, and would work fine as a player for either. Several people complained that it doesn't have a tuner, but it is clearly stated that it doesn't.Note - if you are transferring from VHS to DVD, DVD +R/W are the easiest to use - they don't have to be closed out. If you use other ones, you need to close it out before using it, which can be difficult to find in the menus.

I bought this product with the understand that it is "refurbished" and has no tuner. Refurbished means components have been either replaced with similar components or updated with newer technology. In any case, the device should be working at or above original standards. This product was far from that! VCR heads were very dirty. Images from the VHS tapes played in this unit were extremely snowy and distorted. To verify the problem was not the tape, I played the same tape in a second VCR and the picture was perfect. Additionally, it took me 3 attempts to get this VCR to eject my tape! The first two presses of the eject button did nothing! I had to unplug the unit and reset it, just to get my tape back!!! Do not buy this product! A better solution is to buy a cheap VCR and a DVD burner and use component cables to dub.

The unit came on time,but had no tuner. it didn't show or mention it when I ordered. I was trying to replace the one I had that had the built in tuner. now I have to rent a cable box/tuner to record TV. I am unhappy about this. Regards, Stan Doxtater

Supposed to be able to erase complete disc. So far have been unable to accomplish this. Otherwise the unit has performed well.

...I already knew Magnavox is a good brand where electronics equipment is concerned! Of course I didn't know what to expect when I purchased a "refurbished" Magnavox System, however, after setting it up and viewing excellent videos and DVD's, I am convince this machine has the same good quality this brand is noted for and, setup is simple and fast without the need for intricate wiring and/or specialized adaptations other than a separate purchase of the HDMI Cable..! The 'Remote Control' does not work that well, even after changing the batteries several time, I found myself pushing various buttons repeatedly before getting a response.

my last one lasted7 yrs and i have been searching for another one for about a year, it was easy to put in place and works great thanks u for my old one died 5 days after i got the new one . ps the 4=headed video only lasted 2 years thanks , thanks

Wanted to record television while away. Remote didn't work at all, rendering machine useless for my needs. Returned post haste.

I have bought several refurbished items from Amazon. Have been very pleased and have had no problems with any of them. I thought this was a new one , as it said condition new, play on words. But it works just as good.
