A Very Good Low Budget Dash Camera
This little camera with its extremely reasonable price does exactly what I wanted it for. It just records the path of my travels with great quality, day or night. If your car's cigarette lighter turns on and off with the ignition switch, The camera automatically starts when you start the car and it turns off when you shut off the ignition key. If your car's cigarette lighter stays on while the ignition is off, you will either need to insert a switchable unit between the car's lighter and the camera (as I did), or you will have to manually turn on and off the camera. This camera has a very small battery by design. It is enough for maintenance operations, but it needs to be plugged in for any extended recording. This camera is not meant for underwater use. It would not be practical as a helmet camera, etc. It does not have a GPS location sensor. For those things, go buy one of the $300-$400 units designed for that. For the approximate $60 price plus approximately $20 for a 32 gB micro SD card, this is a really great little camera that produces very high quality videos, day or night. I just returned from a 16 day 4300 mile trip, and it recorded every situation very well. I used it in 720p/60f/s mode with great results. (When I tried it at 30 f/s, the playback was a bit jerky.) The 32 gB card gave us about 9 hours of video before wrapping around and overwriting the oldest clips. This means, that at the end of the day you can connect the camera to your computer and identify any clips you want to keep and copy them to your computer or another thumb drive, etc.I saw one review that warned against using a class10 SD card, but that is what I used with no problem at all. I suspect that reviewer had a bad card. You can set the camera up to write a new clip file after 1, 3, or 5 minutes. I used 5 minute clips. The one feature that did not work well for me was to run the camera in Motion Detection mode. In this mode the camera shuts off temporarily when it doesn't detect motion for about 10 seconds, and presumably turns back on automatically when motion is detected. I found that out on the highway, the area of the picture that the camera apparently is using to detect motion seems to be in the center where the motion is not very noticeable. I could follow a truck on the interstate for miles, and the camera would turn off and not turn back on for minutes at a time. If an event you want to record happens during these periods, you will miss the vital event you wanted to record. So my first several hours of video on the highway had very few full 5-minute clips and too long gaps between the clips. I just turned off the motion detection, and then the camera always recorded full 5-minute clips unless the camera was externally turned off before the end of a clip. I didn't miss any video sections after that.I found that when uploading a series of clips to my computer, or simply playing a series of clips directly from the camera when it was plugged into my computer, I could highlight a sequence of consecutive clips, right-click and select play, and they would play back in Windows Media Player with no gaps between the clips. In fact, there is a tiny overlap of a few milliseconds between the clips. To edit a series of clips into one contiguous video I used the very reasonably priced AVS Video Remaker program and selected MP4 ISO v.2 output format.Note that the USB cable that comes with the camera is SPECIAL. There is no documentation of this, but if you plug the camera into your computer with another cable, you won't get the interface options you need for uploading or playing the video on your computer. The micro SD card is a bit tedious to remove from the camera and you would need an adapter to play it directly in your computer, so it is a lot easier to use the proper USB cable supplied with the camera. When you get it, be sure to label that cable as the special one, because it doesn't look any different than a lot of other USB cables with the same size plugs on each end.The documentation that comes with this camera is very inadequate. I found another user guide someone else created for it that was a lot better. It was called: "Instructions for th eBaiklov G1W Dash Camera dated January 4, 2014.

Highly recommended to EVERY driver!!!
I bought this dash cam right because I come across crazy, psychotic drivers almost every day. That's California for ya! When I tell people about how I almost get in accidents because of these idiots, they think it's crazy and it might be how I drive. That was quickly proven wrong when I received the dash cam, set it up, and captured what I deal with on a daily basis - morons who don't know how to use their turn signals and jump in front of me with no notice, people running red lights, people getting too close for comfort, people who don't know what lane is theirs, people who don't know what "right of way" is, etc.I feel more at ease having this dash cam in case I would need to prove something. I highly encourage everyone to own a dash cam to protect themselves at all times!!The seller is quick to respond with what color you prefer and my item was shipped/received WAAYYY faster than estimated!I had no problem figuring out the set up by reading reviews and basically playing around with it. DO NOT reset it as others have mentioned! Everything will be in a different language.I first had trouble keeping the suction cup suctioned.. it may have been just me.I have my dashcam slightly under my rearview mirror just so I can make sure it's on, recording, and that the view is centered. I always have it plugged in the charger. The cord is long enough to be taped along the side of your interior so that it's not just hanging and obstructing your view.I had a lot of trouble keeping the camera on the holder. It was not secure at all and kept falling off. I would keep putting it back on and it would just fall right back off and cause major frustration! I used an elastic hair tie to keep together and it doesn't fall off anymore!OBJECTS ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR ON VIDEO! The camera is wide angle.. so you can see in front of you and both sides. When you're directly behind a car in the next lane next to them, it appears as they are a little bit farther ahead. It's pretty easy to read license plates on video. I suggest keeping audio ON so in the case of an emergency, you can say the license plate number out loud! Audio records great, too!The quality of video is spectacularly clear in both day and night! I did a youtube search of the camera and liked what I saw. Keep your windshield clean for the best results!I set my camera to record in 10 minute loops so that when I upload the videos, it isn't one long video and have to search for what ever incidents occur. It also makes it easier to sort thru and delete unwanted videos and keep the ones you do want!I noticed that new videos automatically over write the old ones. If there's one that you really want to keep on your camera and unable to upload/save on a computer soon, choose the option to "protect" it so it can't be deleted. Before I decided to set my camera to 10 minute loops, my camera would not over write old videos and "memory card full" would appear instead.I don't have a lot of memory on my SD card.. I don't remember, but it's 8gb or under for sure. It's enough for me because I delete all videos after the car ride if there is nothing worth saving. It automatically turns on when connected to the charger cord.It doesn't automatically turn off when your car turns off. I manually turn it off after each ride, but you can also set up a timer for it to turn off when your car is off. Mine is for 3 minutes. I also take the unit off the holder and put it in the glove compartment. If you're thinking about getting this, GET IT !! Please protect yourself!! I have it on at all times.. even for short drives because you never know! I only wish I had purchased one sooner! I might even purchase another to record what goes on in the back!
