Great for the car
My wife and I really shopped around for a DVD player for our car. We took a chance with this one because there was no reviews on it. I have to say that chance really paid off for us. Here is why we decided to go with this one:1. Brand recognition. We could have went with a couple other names, but I have known RCA for being decent. Maybe not the best but good enough for me.2. Remote controls. This is the number one reason why we went with this one. The first one we had didn't come with remotes and we found it to be a real pain if you have to skip sections, stop, play, and all other normal functions you would use with a DVD player. Because we don't want the kids to get out of their seats while driving this is really ideal and highly recomended. Our children are also too young to understand the controls. The different colors make it easy to determine which control works for what player.3. Two independent players or able to view the same movie on both. The original one we purchased only had one player. With two kids you never know what they are going to watch. This solves the problem when they both want to watch different things. The other reason is for back-up purposes. I have read in many reviews that the dvd player breaks after a while...well with two, if one goes down during a long drive, your not at a complete loss because you can use the other. The one con with this player is the fact that it doesn't remember where the DVD left off if your in the middle of a movie and you shut your car off. This may bother some people but the fact is on long drives your not going to stop every half hour...more like every two or three hours. The average movie is around two hours so it's unlikely this is going to be a major problem during those drives. Unless you plan to use the DVD player for every little drive, this really isn't that big of a deal.Other than that this DVD player is perfect for what we intend to use it for.

OK product that does exactly what you need it to do.
We are a family that has roughly an hour and a half or about 1 movie's worth of travel one way as often as once or twice a month. We purchased these players to use for that commute and for family vacations. As far as quality goes, these are not top quality, but nothing really is anymore so it's what I expected at this price point.Mounting them to the headrests seems to be very basic and somewhat limited as it's only a velcro strap that loops around the back. In our case (2013 honda pilot) the strap design wouldn't work mounted to the headrest because the headrests are not flat on the back and the screen would then be pointing to the roof. So with a little tweaking and adjusting of the head rest we were able to loop the straps around the metal posts for the headrest. The straps are plenty long enough to work in many situations; however I found them to be too long in our case.Once fully installed there are quite a few wires running between the units which makes it look a bit messy. they aren't quite long enough to be routed cleanly. I would assume the intention is that these will only be installed in an as needed basis rather than permanent. These do come with two remotes one for each player and each player can function individually or you can "link them together" and play one dvd in one player and it will play on both. They do have controls on each of the players which in the even you lose the remote you can still work the player. The volume control is pretty basic, but after using them I find it to be very practical. Being that these are only 7" they are still a pretty good quality player and they work well for our kids.Overall:If you are looking for a somewhat basic DVD player that will work for the occasional trip or weekend drive to your in-laws then I highly recommend these players. If you are looking for something sleek and high quality then you might want to look elsewhere.Pros:Simple design, easy to use and very portable.Cons:Low quality, too many wires, and very basic mounting hardware.

Fantastic Car DVD players!
We bought these DVD players to replace some old Panasonic ones that finally bit the dust, and these RCA's are superior to those in almost every single way! ("Almost" because the old ones were 9" and these have a 7" screen.)The movies DO restart from wherever you were when you turned off the car, which is by far the most important feature in a car DVD player in my opinion. With all the previews and start-up screens in kids' movies, it can take up to 5 minutes to get a movie anywhere near where it was when you turned off the car. And if you're making multiple stops, it's just not worth it to start and stop it over and over again. It'll make you CRAZY! So if you're in the market for car DVD players, do yourself the favor of trusting me--you don't want a set that doesn't automatically revert to the last spot you watched.Other features I like about these DVD players are the two movies/two remotes feature. I have a 2 year old and 7 and 8 year olds--they do not have the same taste in movies. So now I can put on something different for the toddler while the older kids watch something more their speed. Or, if it's something they all want to watch, a simple flip of a switch puts them both on the same movie. Also, each screen has its own remote. So the bigger kids can handle starting and fast forwarding their own screen while I can control the baby's screen. The remotes are color coded, so they never get mixed up. (I attached a couple dots of velcro to the backs and to the sun visor so mine doesn't get lost). The DVDs are good at playing semi-scratched disks. That's another thing I like. My old DVD players struggled with older/dirty/scuffed DVDs, but this one plays them fine. It also plays when the car is cold, which my old DVD player struggled with.Overall, I'm VERY happy with this set of DVD players. My only complaints are that the screen isn't bigger, and that the velcro straps included for attaching them to the headrests are hokey. They need to be wrapped around and around and don't hold them on tight. It's not a very elegant way to attach them. It looks like something my 7 year old came up with! I wish they had straps with clickable clasps. (They would lose 1/2 a star for that if Amazon allowed it).But other than that, I really really like them and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Great product.
These DVD players are perfect for our two children in the vehicle. I was really didn't know what to think of them by the description given but thought I would take a chance on them, I am very glad I did. They come with two AC power adapters, two remote controls, two car power adapters, and headrest mounting kits. The headrest mounting kits consists of Velcro straps....but it works and works better than any mount I have bought and tried. You can play two different DVDs or watch the same one on both screens, controlled by a single switch on either DVD player, the switch tells the DVD where it's source is coming from so it will display anything that is connect to it. They resume from where it was when the power was lost, either by the power switch or the ignition goes off.The only downside I can come up with is that they lack the buttons on the player to control it and if you lose the remote then you can't control the player short of turning the power on/off, the volume and where the source is coming from.I thought I was going to miss having one with a battery but in the end I am happy they don't.I would buy these again and I would recommend them to others.

No more fights about videos
So far these work great. Very easy for kids to watch different DVDs or the same one: just the flick of a button changes it. It's a little bit of a bother that they turn off when you turn off the car: battery back-up would be nice.
