Used it yesterday to clean an area rug. So far so good. Worked as advertised. I did spend a lot of extra time drying the rug, but that was by choice because I was concerned about leaving it too wet. I have a carpet pad underneath and do not want mold to develop. We have a dog, so I’m always worried about my area rugs smelling. Decided to take the leap and buy this vs hiring a company. I did a lot of looking - reading reviews and watching review videos and chose this model for the excellent drying feature. I can attest to that. I could feel the warmth under my feet while I was running it. The color of the water from the dirty water tank was disgusting. My rug wasn’t stained, so I can’t say it removed anything specific, but my rug looks brighter. I’m a bit of a clean freak; my husband says my dirty is other people’s clean. Whatever. All I know is this baby is my new friend lol. I didn’t need the accessories at this point, so can’t review them. A few things to note: there wasn’t a guide for how much carpet cleaning solution to add to the tank. Only said to use the machines fill line or I could go to their website for a guide. The tank has two sides, one for hot tap water and the other for the cleaning solution. The fill line for the cleaning solution seemed excessive to me, so I just put in what I thought was right. The solution basically mixes with the water in the tank, so I’m not sure the reason for the separation. When done and I’d removed both tanks, it says to lay the unit down onto its handle in order to maintenance the heads. Some water leaked out at this point where the cleaning tank sits. I realized this was due to water still remaining in the tubes, so I picked up the unit and just held it upside down. Quite a bit of water came out. I’m hoping this might help mitigate the rust other reviews mentioned and plan to do this after every use. Cleaning the dirty water tank is a challenge. It’s compartmentalized, so trying to clean and get the water out of some of the smaller areas was difficult. None of this outweighs being able to clean my rugs anytime I want or having to hire a company. At this price, if it rusts in a certain number of years, I’ll just buy another one because in my opinion it will have paid for itself many times over.

5 Stars-A Workhorse
I bought my original Hoover PowerScrub carpet cleaner about 10 years ago, and it finally reached the end of its life when one of the wheels kept popping off. After getting a full decade of use out of it, replacing it was an easy decision. I purchased another one during the Amazon Prime Day sale, and I'm hoping this one lasts just as long. This machine is a true workhorse. It is very durable, but it is also heavy. It's not for the weak, you'll need a little muscle to push and pull it across your carpet. However, the cleaning power more than makes up for the extra effort. The photos speak for themselves. Just look at the black water in my recovery tank and after I emptied it into the toilet! I keep my house very clean and don't allow anyone to wear shoes inside, yet this machine still pulled an unbelievable amount of dirt from my carpets. It's honestly a little scary to see how much dirt can hide deep in carpet fibers, even in a clean home. There are a couple of small changes with the newer model. It no longer comes with a printed owner's manual, so you'll need to download it online. It also doesn't include the small spinning hand tool that came with my original machine. I really liked that attachment because it worked well on stains and upholstery, so I was disappointed to see it missing. Fortunately, I already knew how to use the machine, but I wanted to give new buyers a heads-up. Despite those minor changes, I still highly recommend this carpet cleaner. My first one lasted about 10 years, cleaned incredibly well, and proved to be a reliable investment. If you're looking for a powerful carpet cleaner that pulls an amazing amount of dirt from deep within your carpets, you really can't go wrong with this one.

Blown away!
So I normally purchase a bissell carpet cleaner but the last two I’ve owned broke easily and needing too many things cleaned afterwards and I can honestly say they NEVER cleaned like this!!! I have a 3 year old autistic son and his favorite thing to do it make messes so please don’t judge my awful carpet lol what’s absolutely mind blowing about this product is that it cleaned my carpet this well on ONE pass!!! I’ve gone over it twice total and it looks brand new I am genuinely impressed! I paid so much less than I normally would and this worked three times better! The hose attachment also works amazingly well! I’ve used it for small messes, couches, mattresses .. etc. all in all this product is underrated and deserves so much credit because even after all the nasty mess it was very simple to clean which I think was my favorite thing about it lol if your considering this but hesitant buy it!

Pleasantly surprised- cleaned my carpets and reasonably priced. Glad I purchased.
I read all of the other reviews and decided to get this one over the Shark and Bissell products. My first attempt was mediocre at best, mainly because I ignored what all of the other reviews said. The water tank is small, so it kept running out, which made me think the suction wasn't working. Once I learned the "dance moves", ie to choose a smaller section (4 ft x 5ft or so) and do the cleansing slowly, then go back over it with the rinse, and then refill the rinse and empty the yucky water container about every 2-3 sections, then I saw great results. I had not cleaned our carpets entirely since we moved in in 2017, so I ended up doing some rooms twice. I can say that I could see the dirt and grime lifting and that after several runs in the VERY high trafficked areas, the spots and other stains were gone. I'm too lazy to do anything above and beyond, so that was solely based on a few runs of this and not using any additional stain fighter. I was impressed. I'm giving it 4 stars because as others said, the water tank is small and requires refilling. The solution tank size is perfect and would last a long while. I also think the cord should be longer and apparently I've gotten lazy because having the actually wrap the cord around instead of having a button that sucks up the cord automatically about did me in. Not a deal breaker, and it was worth the $135 I paid for it. For what it's worth, I bought one jug of the cleaning solution and after about 10 hours of cleaning, I still have solution left.

Great. Get lots of shampoo for a big house.
Things I know you want to know: // Worth it? Yes. I paid $129 but would have paid more knowing what I know. // Does it get deep? Yes. I used Oxy carpet cleaner, but man does it clean. // Noticeable difference? Yes! You'll notice that my carpet is much cleaner. But keep in mind that my carpet is gray and beige, so it hides dirt well. But the fact that it's so much brighter is undeniable proof that this machine does a great job. // Easy to learn? Yes. After a while, you'll get the hang of it and know when to release more shampoo on areas that need the extra treatment. But it's easy to use. // Easy to maneuver? Yes! It's light even with a full gallon of water. And it's just like a vacuum. It's surprisingly maneuverable and smooth. No kinks in the motion. Very smooth. // Long cord? Yes. My living room is huge (the furniture is still in the living room in the picture, not in another room), and I only had to plug it in another socket to get around the furniture. // How often to refill? This depends on how fast you are cleaning. Normally you want a slow, deliberate pace. I can go for 10-15 minutes before needing to dump the water. // *** When do I refill? *** You'll know when when it's time to refill when 1: You hear the suction sound change to just being a motor around 2: You'll stop seeing water being pulled in when you back up 3: The orange ball in the dirty water reservoir has risen to the hole. This is a sign that the dirty water is as high as it can go, and the cleaner will stop sucking in more dirty water. // Easy to pour and refill? Yes. You'll develop a quick change routine: pour dirty water; rinse sink while refill water is getting hot; refill and go. There is almost no way to over fill. The engineering has angled the reservoirs in a way that makes this extremely difficult. // Shampoo If you have a big house, I'd say get more than 64 oz of shampoo. There's nothing wrong with having leftovers. For a normal house, 64 should do all the rooms. // Sturdy? Very. I didn't have any mishaps but I stepped on the hose and it did not break. // Stairs? Attachments? I didn't do the stairs yet (hey, my house is big) but I tested the attachments and they are up to the task. The hand scrubber tool has lots of brushes and they rotate with power! I did my couch and it scrubbed out a stain I didn't think would come out. Anyway, I'm tired of writing. Just get it. If this doesn't tell you it's worth it, I don't know what will. I'd like to be with some ladies right now but instead I'm taking the time to write this review because I'm so impressed with it. If you don't like it, you can return it, and you're covered with 2 year warranty, I think. The game I'm watching on the TV just mentioned a Slurpee. Maaan I want one of those right now. You should get one after you get this because you can clean up any mess you make.

Works better than expected. Buy spare bottles of cleaning solution!
Neat product. Easy to put together, two Phillips head screws hold the handle on. I had a gripe about the instruction sheet, which was crowded and printed in small type. Paper is cheap, print LARGER INSTRUCTIONS. So I got out a magnifying glass and read the instructions a few times. I used distilled water heated up to about 120F in an electric kettle and poured that through a funnel into the clean water tank and added the cleaning solution to the other tank. YOU WILL WANT TO BUY EXTRA BOTTLES OF CLEANING SOLUTION. This thing goes through the cleaning solution like a 22 year old at a college party goes through beer. You turn it on, release the handle so it's easier to push, and pull the trigger on the handle while you push forward, then release the trigger and pull back. It's slow going, expect something of a workout. Fear not, you'll go through your tanks of water and cleaning solution in no time. The first thing I tried it on was some old, very dirty white carpet my ex-wife had insisted on in the bedrooms. The device worked reasonably well. Do not expect miracles. But it does clean. When I emptied the waste water container in the commode, that water was dark grey! Then for Round Two I tried it on a kitchen work mat, a cushioned mat which gets a lot of traffic. It was not quite the lost cause the bedroom carpet was, and when I went to empty the waste water container, the water was BLACK! The device was definitely picking up a lot of dirt. By that time, I was pretty tired out, so I removed and rinsed the waste water tank and the cleaning solution tank -- I caught myself about to rinse the clean water tank which I'd filled with distilled water. Laughed at myself. So from my first use, I'm satisfied with the device. Again, don't expect miracles, but it does do a pretty good job. My next project is an area rug in the living room. After that, the floor mats from my car. The device comes with various tools and a hose, but those will have to wait for another day. Overall, I found it to be well-designed, clever, and functional. Remember to buy extra cleaning solution.

Cleans well, but even more importantly, cleans UP well
I am really impressed with this carpet cleaner. Not only does it do the job of cleaning, but a lot of reasonable thought has gone into how this is going to be used, and how the end user needs to interact with it. First, assembly is a breeze; I had it up and running 10 minutes after it arrived. You need a Philips head screwdriver for two screws and that's it. Second: it really cleans well. I emptied several tanks of nasty brown water from carpets that looked pretty clean to the eye. The included shampoo has a pleasant odor that dissipates quickly as it dries. The suction is really good, although you will want to take your time and watch whether water is still coming up before you stop, which is easy, because they made the waste water tank clear and gave you a straight shot to see where the water being pulled out of the carpet is coming up into the tank. My low pile wool carpets were dry to the touch 3-4 hours after being cleaned; my deep fiber nylon carpet is taking a bit longer. Third: the entire assembly cleans up really well. Every bit of this device that handles water, especially the waste water, comes apart easily and smoothly so it can be cleaned. I was incredibly impressed. The only wet part you can't get to are the lines that run the cleaner or the rinse water to the head of the vacuum. That should be fine, since they shouldn't be in contact with waste. But the entire suction head of the device lifts away with a single release lever, the waste tank splits in half, with enough access to get to all parts of it, and the filters are all easy access. This is wonderful, because a thorough cleaning and drying after use is how you prevent mildew, which is the bane of any cleaning device that uses water. It is not a light piece of equipment, but that is actually a good thing. The head stays down no matter how far away from yourself you push it, which is good when you are trying to reach a place but you don't want to step in the wet carpet you just shampooed. I had the best of intentions of planning out my cleaning pattern, but inevitably there was a bit that go left out, or needed another run to help dry it, and it is nice that the weight of the head stays down so that it maintains suction at all times. It is also pretty big -- it is bigger than any other cleaning device in my home. If you live in a small apartment, say with just one closet to store your regular vacuum cleaner, mop, and other things, this beast is going to evict everything else. And you can't let that happen -- you do need to vacuum your carpets before you use this guy -- it uses very narrow suction to get the water back out of your carpet, so if you have long pet hair, long human hair, heavy dirt, or similar, it could clog it up. While it does clean out nicely, its going to be a long day if you have to stop every 5 minutes to remove a wet lump of afghan hound hair. And a final tip: when you go to remove the tanks, or when you are starting to clean it so you can put it away, I recommend moving to a hard surface, like kitchen tile. It uses water, it is going to leak some of that water when you take it apart. The waste water tank doesn't leak, but there is likely to be a little bit of dirty water that comes back out of the nozzle. And there is going to be a little clean water where the clean water tank sits. I found I could handle everything with just one-half of a paper towel, so it is pretty minor. But better and easier on tile than on your freshly cleaned carpet.

Company is oblivious to the issues with SpinScrub Brushes
Initial reaction when I had first received this Carpet cleaner, was pretty good. Opened the box, only thing I had to assemble was the handle and it was ready to go. Most of the 5-Star reviews have covered the good part of its functioning. I will highlight what they may not have experienced yet. The SpinScrub brushes makes the spinning action using a turbine mechanism. This turbine has cheap parts and it starts rusting as soon as it comes in touch with water, which could happen right after the first wash. This issue has been widely reported in Hoover's other models as well, and yet Hoover's clueless Engineering team is unable to change the design or the parts and keeps on using non-stainless steel and cheap parts which seize to operate, right after they come in contact with water and rust. Check the following link on Amazon Q&A where a user has asked a question after his or her machine stopped working: https://www.amazon.com/Brushes-not-spinning-something-internally/forum/Fx23UOVL4I8KXTK/Tx26GM4WHEYHZHV/1?asin=B00009R66F When I experienced this issue as I was getting ready to use the machine, I did an online search and numerous videos on how to fix the Hoover carpet cleaner's turbine mechanism. It's just been a year and have used the cleaner twice. I am very handy with fixing things. So, I thought, I will give it a try before calling Hoover for warranty claim. In my case though, it won't fix as the shaft between two bearings is completely rusted and jammed. The bearings are rusted too, tried using WD-40 and tried to move the part but it won't budge. I have now sent a message to Hoover Support, let's see how quickly they can have it fixed. I will come back and update the review accordingly. ----- Update as of May 4th ----- My machine was still under warranty. I had contacted the Hoover Support via email but they refused to send the affected part and instead referred to me to their authorized service center. I tried to reason with them that it's waste of time for me drive about 11 mi to take the machine for a problem which I have already diagnosed. They refused and reiterated to take it to authorized service center. I had eventually taken the machine last week to service center. The service center folks were very receptive and told me that this is a common problem but good for their business. Warranty or not, they get paid either way. Service Center had called me last Saturday that they had replaced the part under warranty. I just need to now pick it up. ----- Update as of May 6th ----- I picked up the machine today and it has a new turbine that rotates the SpinScrub brushes. This repair was done under warranty but I am concerned that warranty would soon expire. So, I asked the service tech about what options I have when (not if) it happens again. He told me that the part is about $30 and their service fee for changing the part is $20. So, I will be looking at $50 expense every time this part needs replacement as the company WILL NOT ship the part directly to consumer even if they could handle the repairs themselves. An additional fact to keep in mind before you pick this cleaner.

Wrong plug+No adapter= fire&broken machine
I was very excited to use my machine. It came with what looks like a USA plug and no adapter. I read the instructions, used my own adapter, measured and filled the machine, turned it on and instantly heard a bang, with the smell of burning and then machine turned off... I felt it was going to create an electrical fire, especially how there is water inside the machine and something has exploded in there. Not a nice experience.

Should have bought one years ago
We have a very large dog and two cats, one of which has IBS, and I was tired of scrubbing cat puke on my hands and knees. So I figured it was finally time to invest in an upright carpet cleaner. I got this on a lightning deal for 30% off, so I was already very happy with the price. It was easy to unpack and set up, only requiring the handle to be attached to the body of the machine with two provided screws. My cats are currently enjoying the very large box, so that was an added bonus. I like that it has both a wash and rinse setting, so you aren’t left with excess detergent in the carpet. The solution container is separate from the water tank, and the machine decides how much of each to dispense, so you don’t have to worry about mixing ratios yourself. The dirty water tank also has a quick-pour plug in addition to coming apart completely, which makes it much easier to clean as well as keep dry when not in use. I’ve now done every area rug in our house and overall, I’m very happy. My only complaint is that the dirty water tank seems fairly easy to jostle if the carpet bunches up or you have to lift/reposition the machine. From what I can tell, this can briefly cause the tank to lose suction or misalign with the intake valve, and then it won’t suction properly again until you turn the machine off and back on. It’s a bit annoying, but not enough to outweigh how useful the machine has been so far, especially for the sale price and versatility (as it also comes with smaller hose attachments for upholstery etc).

No need to hesitate. Just buy this machine already!
I have an expensive Bissell carpet cleaner that I’ve used less than a handful of times. When I recently tried to use it after my dog had an accident, the sprayer failed. I thought it could have been clogged but nope. It just seized. So I bought this one after reading the reviews. Wow, am I ever impressed! It cleaned my carpet so well it looks as good as new. So very, very happy with this purchase. It was very easy to set up and very easy to clean. It arrived in a ‘short’ box and I had immediate dread that I would have to do a lot of assembling. Nope. It just took 2 screws to attach the handle. That was it. I can’t recommend this machine enough. Also, it’s much lighter than my Bissell. Much, much lighter and seems to have better suction. Couldn’t be any happier. Do not hesitate. Just buy it. You won’t regret it.
