You can't go wrong with this vacuum!
PROS: Lightweight, great suction for an unbeatable deal Cons: Short electrical cord As a mother with a young toddler who can be a messy eater. I feel that this light-weight vacuum cleaner has saved my sanity. I keep this Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner in my dining room and kitchen area of our house. Like most mothers, you feel that your house can never stay clean no matter how often you pick up. Personally, I feel that sweeping takes too much time and I am always left with crumbs that were either missed or not able to be swept up by a simple dust pan. I believe that the Dirt Devil Vacuum Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner Simpli-Stik Lightweight Bagless Corded Stick and Handheld Vacuum has saved me plenty of time and energy to allow me to focus on other things! CONVIENCE: In today’s time, most people enjoy convinces of things in life. Personally, I think that this Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner is very convenient to the fact which all I need to do is plug this item in to an outlet and begin to vacuum up messes. My son drops a lot of food while eating so having this quick pick up really helps keep our day going. I know that some may say that the standard broom does the same job and I thought that too at first, but once I first used this vacuum it was less of a hassle to clean up the messes on the floor. This is not used for liquids, just crumbs. I was surprised to see that it would suction even larger items such as a normal vacuum cleaner would. I enjoy not having to try and wiggle out the crumbs that fall under the ledge of the cabinets on the floor. This vacuum quickly sucks it right up with no hassle. ATTACHMENTS: The one thing I knew with purchasing this vacuum cleaner was that I would not be using this to clean my carpets, but simply the small messes in the kitchen and dining room. If you are looking to have a vacuum for carpet, this is not the vacuum you would want. If you are looking for easy, quick pickups then this is a great product! This vacuum has a couple different features. It can be used as an upright vacuum, a handheld vacuum, and it also has a smaller attachment for tight to reach placed. This is a simple vacuum that gets the job done without the bells and whistles. I feel that having the upright position is great for vacuuming floors. But, if you want to vacuum out your car or even the couch the handheld option is perfect! The smaller attachment is great for getting in between the pockets of your couch. My one complaint with the features is that converting upright to handheld, you must take off the wheel portion of the vacuum. I find it can be difficult at times to remove that part. Other than that, I am very satisfied. CORD: Since I purchased to use this vacuum in my kitchen and dining room area, I am now realizing that the cord could be longer. The cord is 16ft, but even though my kitchen and dining room are in the same room, it still does not reach all sides. I would not say this is a deal breaker for me, but it can be a downfall I see with this vacuum. If you are within reach for the rooms you are looking to vacuum for, then it should not be an issue. FILTER: I LOVE that this vacuum is bag less! I have had the older, bulky vacuums that require bags and it is just costly to keep replacing them. I enjoy that the filter can be either cleaned or replaced. The replacements I have seen cost less than $8.00. I have had this vacuum for 11 months and have never had to replace the filter yet. The quick release of a push of a button and you can empty your filter. As this is a lightweight vacuum that can clean small rooms, if you are looking for a vacuum to clean your entire house, this is not for you. This Dirt Devil vacuum is great for needing to clean specific rooms or items. LIGHTWEIGHT: My experience with vacuums are that they can be bulky and heavy. This is not the case with the Dirt Devil vacuum. This vacuum is only 3.8lbs. Its small enough to just fit in the corner of the room with not taking any space. I love that I can easily take this vacuum without feeling hassled by the weight of this item. PRICE: I was blown away when I started using this vacuum because of how much I paid for it. For the great suction, being lightweight, having beneficial features I am simply blown away that it does not cost more! I have been using this vacuum daily, sometimes multiple times a day for just under a year and it still works just as good as the first day I purchased it. This is truly I feel the best vacuum you could get for such an amazing price!

I LOVE this vac on so many levels I'm getting a second!!
This vac is so perfect for us. We needed a light weight and easy vac as we had just put wood floors down in 60% of the house and dragging the Dyson out with a floor attachment was driving me crazy several times a day. We got this one and it was light weight and easy to use, so much so my 5 and 4 year old insisted on giving it a try, since then they ask every day if they can tidy up the toys and vacuum the floor, of course I have no problem with this at all. In fact we are getting a second so that they can both have one and we don't have arguments over who gets to use it first. Even my 1 year old loves to bring it out and try and tidy up. We vacuum at least once a day as a lot of dirt gets tracked in and I think my husband and I have only had to use it about 5 times in the last month, every time I get it out to use it my kids come running in and ask to use it instead, we have had to divide the house so one gets to do the living room and hallway and the other gets to do the kitchen, the added bonus is they pick everything up and tidy up all the toys and anything else before they can start!!! It picks up great, we have kittens who make a mess outside their litter box with walking bits of kitty litter out and it picks that up no problem, picks up dirt/mud, leaves, straw, any small items that have been tracked in from outside, dog and cat hair by the handfuls. Unlike other reviewers I have not had a problem with it clogging too fast, my long haired dog has been molting terribly and this picks it up fine, when I empty it the filter is covered in dog hair but I have not noticed any problems with suction. A down side I have found with it is the cord is too short, I can barely reach the other side of the room with it in a 19' room, I might have to eventually add to the cords but then I think it might not wrap up on the handle. The other problem came when I tried to vacuum up hair after I had cut my son's, it did seem to suck it up ok and then I noticed it was not working right on the regular stuff, it would keep leaving a little pile of dust when I turned it off, I turned it off and looked and the hair had got clumped and stuck in the floor attachment where it goes up into the machine. I tried to get it all out but due to the angle I ended up having to use a screwdriver and undo the 4 screws and take it apart to get the hair out then put it back together. This was very easy and only took about 10 mins to do but was a pain. Finally it does not do carpet very well at all. We got an area rug and it was able to pick up the dirt but not the hairs at all, not surprising as it has to bristles, I had to bring the Dyson out to clean that. Again it is a great little vacuum and probably about as expensive as the toy vacuums we were looking at for the kids but this one will actually keep your house clean.

so you're not going to get great filtration. But that's not with this vacuum is ...
This is not a high powered vacuum cleaner and it's not a HEPA vacuum, so you're not going to get great filtration. But that's not with this vacuum is for, especially at this price point. I gave it four stars because, though I would've liked a little more power to it, it does exactly what I want of it. And then actually managed to offer something didn't know I wanted but I'm glad it had. I bought this vacuum for the particular purpose of cleaning up the pet room. I was tired of using the whole house vacuum and only having them last so long because of the hell I was putting them through keeping that room clean. I was constantly having to de-clog to get suction back and pull hair out of brushes, clean caked on litter from wheels. I was done. So I bought a cheap little vacuum I could afford to destroy every year. It cleaned up loose kibble, cleaned up some hair, picked up a couple things of plastic jug tabs that I missed during my initial walk-through (I always go through picking larger trash bits before I vacuum). This was all without the bottom attachment on (so suction coming straight from the canister). For what I was trying to do, the wheel attachment wasn't really what I needed. The canister is small so for bigger jobs you might need to empty more than once but it is so low hassle to do so that I don't think it's that big of deal. Really, it's one button to open the canister and then you pull out the filter to dump. Slip filter back in, reattach canister, good for another round. As for what I didn't know I wanted but glad it had: there are no brushes. This makes for a less deep cleaning of carpet but if you're going to be going over a lot of pet mess or kid mess, it makes for much easier cleaning of the vacuum itself, oh my gosh. Instead of having to clean out brushes stuck up with all types of nasty, I can now simply wipe it down with a sponge and soapy water and it's good as new. Another thing: It's probably the quietest vacuum I have ever had (not to say that it's *quiet* just that is is quieter). I think this vacuum would be great for a small apartment or for someone needing a vacuum for a specific space. But if you are looking for a main vacuum for your 1300 sqft house and you have kids? Pass on this little guy. He can only do so much. -Amber

Does a great job; has replaced my broom
This vacuum does all I intended it to. I'm VERY pleased with it. I purchased my first one a few weeks ago. It was for my daughter who was going off to college and would be sharing an apartment with 3 other girls. I did not want to purchase an expensive vacuum. I saw this Dirt Devil for under $20 and decided to give it a try. I tested the vacuum out at home and ended up loving it for little jobs around the house. So I bought myself one. First of all, this will NOT do the job of a full size and full powered vacuum but then again, I don't think that is it's purpose. I purchased this mainly to use in my laundry room and kitchen in place of a broom and dustpan. I keep my cat's litterbox in the laundry room and she manages to track litter from that room and in to the hallway. I would constantly sweep up but it seemed I never got ALL the litter up and was always stepping on some leftover piece. The kitchen was also a room with lots of "stuff" on it's floor. Leaves from outside, crumbs, etc. I also felt I missed things. Most likely, the broom just didn't catch everything and debris would be left on the floor. This vacuum works great for those areas. The vacuum is very lightweight (about 1-2 lbs.) and easy to carry around. It's a lot better than pulling out the Dyson vacuum which is big and heavy. I use the Dirt Devil every day in the laundry room and kitchen. One added bonus (for me anyhow) is that I can clean my floor mats and rugs with this thing too. The Dyson sucked those rugs right up and I'd end up unraveling rug strings from the beater bar! So to sum it up, this Dirt Devil vacuums my throw rugs, it cleans the tile floors great (it gets up all those annoying bits of litter) and it even works well on our carpet. Admittedly, the Dyson does a much better job on carpet and is a lot more powerful, but for little jobs when you don't want to lug out a heavy, bulky, full sized vacuum, this really does the job well. For costing less than $20 and for using it every day, I love this little vacuum. It is also very easy to clean. When I take out the filter cup I just wipe it with a used dryer sheet and it takes all the lint off. Bigger things that get picked up like the litter pieces just get dumped from the container. I have not tried it as a hand held dust buster type vacuum but I'm sure it would work just as well since it works great as an upright. And lastly, my daughter also loves the vacuum. Cleans up her bathroom floor and even picks up stuff from the shag carpet that is in her bedroom.

Dirt Devil Simpli-Stik Lightweight Corded...
The Vacuum in the picture is not the one you will receive. The one in the picture is the most incredible vac I have ever used. I bought one for my Mother and I and I loved it and wore it out, I loved it so much. Please take note of the differences because the number itself to identify it is the same, even the same manufacturer, but it is not the same as photo. Comparison to see if you got the good one or the bad one. There is clearly a difference. The good one looks exactly like the photo, please look carefully as I tell you. The button is more narrow, the one that is a replacement is larger, almost twice the size. The second thing is the bottom area to clean that detaches to use the hose if you want for the crevice too. The good one has narrow corners and is more square, the bad one has more rounded corners. The good one is black on the bottom and all filled in; the bad one has nothing filling in the bottom and is hollow looking and just the plastic red plastic you can see from the front and the corners are more curved, larger and won't fit into small areas like the good one that is narrow and square. The tool, on the old one I use to have, the good one the tool hooks on nicely, the bad one the tool keeps falling off the vac and is a real pain you know where. Lastly and most important I think is the bag which makes or breaks it and in my case this is my second one sending back. The good one that I use to have and my Mother does too, has a Gray thick Cup in it so the dirt won't get into the motor and picks up so much stuff, that you want to change each time you use it. But the one that they have now, the bad one, the one that doesn't look like it is pictured here has a white cup that is paperish, falls apart in no time, a couple of weeks in fact and I cleaned it each time I used it. When I would pull off the lint that had collected, I would pull out the bag itself as well. The material just is not something that will hold up at all and in no time, the bag will disintegrate and I mean that. So as far as protecting the inside motor, forget that and you likely won't get a month in before you have no cup. The old one I use to have, you could wash the cup each month. I always cleaned it out after each use, but you could do the monthly wash to keep it running awesome. The one you see in this photo to recap has a larger button to take off the bottom to remove the White Clothy Cup that will disintegrate in weeks. This one also has rounded corners, a hollow underneath, not black or filled in, just hollow, cheap, like it could be missing the bottom, but no the second one was the same way, Lastly this one has a crevice tool that will not adhere to the vac. It just keeps falling off as you vac which will drive you threw the roof. So the release button, the curved corner bottom, the hollow underneath, the white dust cup and the crevice holder does not hold good to the vac. I may get a Bissel instead. I'm going to look well and neither one has a small brush for carpets, but even a floor model should pick up better than this one does. Watch the Just Awful Video. That will help you tremendously when it comes to show you it's pick up capacity. Just trying to help, I'm quite discouraged now with the second one to send back. I just want you to not have to go through this ordeal.

5 stars customer for no hassle sending replacement
I bought one for training mat & hardwood floors at martial arts, yoga studio & a second one for average to small rooms with carpet. Both vacuums work as needed. On the carpet which is slightly thick, vacuum slowly because width of area that picks up is small. But it picks up hair & small pieces on the surface just fine. Because vacuuming is done daily, items do not get buried, however for thicker carpets or deeper cleaning of not vacuuming daily, I suggest one with stronger suction or be patient staying a bit longer in those spots. Also the suction opening is in middle. Vacuuming edges along wall needs to be done straight at it not along side when on carpet. For hardwood floors or tile, the suction is enough to go parallel to wall edge for dust & hait, again go slowly. This vacuum is still working. The vacuum I purchased for training studio was perfect. The best part was its size for storage. We had one of those expensive lithium vacuums that needed to be hung on wall but now barely keeps a charge for 10 minutes. The Dirt Devil's cord is long enough we unplug only a few times up front & twice in back. The 3 in 1 feature of having option to use as hand vac with its attachment would make this vacuum a steal for the price. However, I can only give 3 star rating because of what I would consider a design flaw in the area where the filter section disconnects to the motor. The storage area where filter is small, which makes sense since vacuum has a sleek design. So that area needs to be removed often to clear its contents. That area is held connected by a small thin price of plastic which can & does break easily. Once that happens the whole vacuum becomes unusable. It can not even be used as a handheld because that tiny little piece is what holds the top motor weight to bottom lighter filter & catch bin. It's the same problem that other reviewers have also dinged product for in 1 & 2 star reviews. The vacuum was a gift for our training studio to replace the sputtering out lithium battery one. I like giving gifts that last. So that there knocks off 4 stars. But the one for single user, carpet rooms is still working as described. Add 5 stars. & 5 stars to customer service for their immediate reply & sending me return label to send damaged one back & then a working replacement. So averaging it out based on my experience with 2 vacuums purchased in March & one breaking at end of May with replacement sent in early June, is how I averaged my review. (I'm not a mathematician, lol, so please don't comment the numbers don't add up. Maybe they do?) Here are some suggestions if you are purchasing this inexpensive, effective vacuum. When cleaning out filter catch area, do it as if you were handling explosives, .... Calmly, unhurried & gently. That little plastic piece literally makes or breaks the product. If it wasn't for customer service my rating would be 1 star. For $20 bucks, it should at least last a year with average use. Overall, with these considerations & because of fast resolution from customer service I still recommend this product. This is a "convenience" type vacuum, not a heavy duty. But it's also a lot lighter than the bigger ones where lugging a heavier one for smaller jobs gets old real fast. With Gratitude

The sound of silence
The evening at my house typically goes like this: I zombie up the stairs from work and vegetate, the kids grudgingly do their jobs after being reminded thirty-seven thousand times, and the mister comes home and gripes about the substandard quality in carrying out the two small chores allotted to each child. Look, man. I am chronically ill and await surgery and unless I want an intervention for an aneurysm as well, the last thing I need to hear is this four-wall gripe fest. The largest issue here is sweeping. We are in a two-story condo with wood and tile floors. I don't know how in the dickens the floor needs swept so often, but it does. It's like my tweens are composed entirely of crumbs and granola. Tired of this issue, I decided to purchase this. It hasn't been but a couple weeks, but the novelty of a metamorphosing floor sweeper over a broom is enough to make the kids enjoy cleaning the floors. Because of the ways that it can be used, they even volunteered to vacuum both sets of stairs in the front of the house, as well as atop the baseboard. The baseboard! The magnitude of this situation is not lost on me. I digress, yet again. This little thing, especially for the price, is a trooper. It works very well. Yeah, the filter needs to be addressed more often than other hand vacs or comparable vacuums, but I can make peace with that when considering the versatility. It can be irritating, but I don't live in a sprawling estate and chances are that you do not either, so the walk to the trash can is not far. I should also note that I do not own any pets, so only have to address the massive amounts of hair that I personally shed. This miracle stick of wonder has been used on a couple of Persian runners, hardwood floor, tile, and granite. Please don't tell anyone, but I used it to suck up all the remnants of my cooking messes on the stove. I am a messy chef, and if I can manage to make dinner, I sure do not have the energy to actually clean the stovetop. Using the wand attachment, this makes light work of such things. It is very lightweight in any form in which it may be used, and surprisingly quiet. Considering the price point, I expected some corpse-waking noise. None such here! Perhaps you would like your children to vacuum the hordes of granola and trail mix on the back floor of the car? This also does that! Amazing, I tell you Considering how well it has performed, I do not expect that it will die on us on the near future. In the event that it does, this puppy is cheap enough to keep a back stock in the closet. This has to be the best purchase I have made this year, and I most certainly recommend it. My littles treat it like it is a Transformer, so definite plus for being versatile. I will take anything that provides my kids with enough motivation to do their jobs and enjoy (?!) dong so.

UPDATE MAY 2019 - 5 STARS THIS TIME
UPDATE MAY 2019: OK, the Eureka is history and I bought yet another Simpli Stik in May of 2016, which is still running. Three years. That could be a record. It’s had a rough life, but everything works, even though I neglected emptying it out after every use and it fell over hundreds of times. It still works just fine. So why buy a new one? Well, when I read the features of this new one, I was drawn. Let’s face it, I was sold. Why? Simply put (pardon the pun): 1 - It really stands up by itself. Really and truly. No overbalancing to make it fall over and trip up the user, as the old one does. 2 - Disconnecting the bottom dust cup for emptying is easier, as the button works well, and it is easy to click back on, unlike the old one, which tends to fight you. 3 - The power of this unit is shocking on the first use. It is indeed powerful. To me, it felt a bit like the kick of the first gun you ever fired. Hang onto it. My cat hates it, because it makes a lot more noise than the old one. I guess she’ll get used to it. 4 - The suction picks up nearly everything it gets near, so be warned. (Paper Towel: now you see it, now you don't.) There's no going over and over a spot, making the task take too long, as the old one does. 5 - Removing the rod, to use as a hand-held, is not a life and death battle. The snap button works like a dream, and you don’t lose all kinds of time fighting with it, as with the old one. 6 - It doesn't have a terrible odor wafting off during operation, only as you'd expect from an electric motor. Not overpowering. Those are good selling points for a reasonably priced, well designed cheap vacuum. Just a few sore spots: 1 - It does make lots of noise. You can’t use it while anyone is sleeping. Trust me. 2 - The motor gets sorta hot in continuous use. Short breaks help. The strength of the motor would seem to be the likely reason. No smoke noticed yet. 3 - As others have said, the crevice tool, although it works very well, just won’t stay where the manufacturer planned for it to be kept. It falls. And falls. If anyone has come up with a way to keep it snapped onto the rod, please - PLEASE let me know. If I should think of something, I will try to pass on the idea here. Hmmm, maybe heavy duty velcro? Worth a shot. Pending..... OK, that’s it. Good little appliance. I like it a lot. And it didn’t break the bank. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx have a Eureka that I bought in 2011 that is still kicking. That makes it almost 6 years old. The crevice tool; is cracked and patched with duck tape. The top and bottom sections are held together by duck tape because the little snap thing wore out. It's noisier than the Dirt Devil. It's also heavier. But it works. Say no more. UPDATE MAY 2019: OK, the Eureka is history and I bought yet another Simpli Stik in May of 2016, which is still running. Three years. And it didn’t break the bank. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx UPDATE MAY 2019: OK, the Eureka is history and I bought yet another Simpli Stik in May of 2016, which is still running. Three years. That could be a record. It’s had a rough life, but everything works, even though I neglected emptying it out after every use and it fell over hundreds of times. It still works just fine. The Dirt Devil is so light I have no problem using it. It does indeed have a chemical odor emitting during use, as other posters have mentioned. I will off-gas in time. Meanwhile, I use with ventilation.

The little vacuum that could.
This is my go to vacuum and has been for many years. I got my first one about 20 years ago to clean up dry spills my kids made. The vacuum has been upgraded some over the years, better technology and all that, but is still in essence the same great product at the same great price. The suction has gotten much better over the years and the addition of the removable stick is a very welcome one! The edge tool provided is so helpful. This vacuum is light and easy to assemble. It works great on low and no pile flooring but not so great on high pile carpeting. You can use it to quickly get crumbs off your table or counter but moisture is its nemesis so be wary of that. The fully enclosed cannister is perfect for sucking up beads, sequens and glitter that you can then reuse if the canister and filter are kept clean. (For this price, I've always had one dedicated specifically to crafts for this exact reason.) Cobwebs are no match for this tiny beast and the stick makes it easy to reach those high corners. The lightweight body and long cord of this vacuum makes it the perfect tool for cleaning your stairs and baseboards. The filters are inexpensive and often come in multipacks. I can generally get 6 months of daily use out of a single filter. The filters *can* be rinsed in a pinch but must be air dried completely before using again. The cannister and edge tool can absolutely go through the dishwasher, the wide head and motor cannot (obviously.) I wouldn't recommend this as a primary pet hair control tool, the suction is not strong enough to remove the hair thats embedded deeply into fabric and the plastic used to make it attracts the pet hair to the wrong area of the vacuum. (You end up with more pet hair on the outside of the vacuum than in the cannister in my experience.) I would suggest making sure you empty the cannister and brush off the filter every time you use it for optimal longevity and operation. This vacuum stands on its own using the wide head, is light enough to be hung on a command hook and the stick is just the right size to fit into a pressure clamp broom holder, making it easy to store even in a small dorm. This is all around a great vacuum and I recommend it to everyone.

Decently Powerful
I was surprised how strong the suction is. I use it to get into corners, under furniture and generally tidy up. Works well on flat surfaces and decently on small rugs for surface particulates, but without a beater bar it doesn't properly clean deep into the fibers. Does pick up a surprising amount of fluff and debris even so. Easy to empty container, easy to clean filter, no bags to fuss with, and a small footprint. For the price, it's a steal for small spaces. It's a spruced up dust buster. I would be careful popping it open to take the filter out. It's mostly plastic, so that plastic clasp will experience a lot of wear, and too much force might make it snap. I can see that being a failure point.
