Review: Happy Baby, Exhausted Mama - I thought I'd have to go through several videos to find one that I would want to work out to on a daily basis but I think my search has ended. The video is a little low budget and no-frills but it does exactly what I need it to do....help me to lose weight while interacting with my baby. The exercises are pretty basic...jumping jacks, lunges, squats, etc. No fancy dance steps to learn. The workout actually seems pretty easy but the challenging part for me was lifting and holding my baby through most of it. My baby just turned 5 months but he is a tall, big baby at 18 pounds. The ease of the actual movements make this video ideal for beginners or those who have not exercised in a while, but adding your baby's weight to the equivalent is what makes the workout challenging. The music is pleasant enough. It's not crazy techno or hip hop music and it's not annoying children's music. Although I wish the music were a little peppier, it is soothing for the baby and allows you to focus more on what the instructor is saying and doing. This workout is for moms with babies who can support their own heads. My son could support his own head from 2.5 months of age, so I wish I had started this a lot sooner. To all the new moms out there, good luck on getting your figure back! UPDATE: There is a very small window of time in which you can do workouts like this. While my son loves watching this video as we workout and giggles the whole way through it, he is a very big baby at over 18 pounds and he is very active. He does not always like to be held up in the air and he crawls away when I put him down on the mat. I end up having to chase after him or get too tired and sore from holding him. I still give this video 5 stars but I think it's better to work out on your own while your baby sleeps if like me, you have a big and active baby. Review: A Man's point of view - I bought this for my wife when she complained she could not work out anymore because she always had the baby to take care of. She never ended up using it but I gave it a try last weekend. I now have a 7 month old, I am a personal trainer, so I am familiar with all the workouts in this DVD. Pros 1. This workout DVD was not easy. Lots of strength exercises which were difficult as my baby is close to 20 lbs. For this reason along I will likely do this DVD again. However if my wife started out now it would be too much for her, but if you start when the baby is much lighter you should be able to build up a higher weight at the same rate your baby gains weight. 2. Workout is only 40 minutes, which is good as my baby would not have lasted much longer than that. 3. Requires no special equipment other than baby. I bought the baby DVD on vacation and it was a great vacation workout. 4. Baby loves the exercises and was very engrossed in what I was doing. Cons 1. Several reviews have talked about the personality of the mom in the video. I would have to agree that her on screen personality was a turn off at first and is not nearly to the level of other workout DVD's. I am going to let this go as those other on screen trainers do not make this product. If she made more DVD's I am sure she could improve in this area. 2. Dvd was short. I know that was a pro for the baby, but I wanted to workout more. I could have just done the DVD again, even later in the day. 3. Only one DVD. I wish the mom made a series of these DVD's as this dvd would get old in about a week. 4. While my baby who is almost crawling was engrossed in the video it was also weird for her. So your first time do not expect your baby to love every part. Overall this is a good buy, I am giving it 4 stars over 5 because of the mom personality issues, and that she only made one DVD so you are buying a product you will get bored of rather quickly. I really do wish the mom made a series of them as was interested enough to buy more.

What was I thinking...
I laugh at myself that I event bought this. The gal is pretty annoying, I think I read that and thought "nah, I can deal" and let me just say - sweaty new mommy trying to work off those extra baby pounds holding a heavy baby - isn't a great combo. Good idea in theory, didn't work out for us. Mine is at my local Good Will...

Good workout, but baby did not like it
This wasn't my favorite mom and baby workout. I enjoyed the workout at first and my legs felt slightly sore the next day, but for some reason my baby did not like this video. She always got fussy and ready to be done with it much faster than other videos we have done. I am not sure which motions or movements she didn't like exactly, but we never lasted too long on this video. Ialso purchased Mom and Baby Fitness:Yoga, Pilates, and Baby Massage, and she seemed to prefer that video much better.
