Secret Santa pressie
Got this for a work colleague who's a sailor as a Secret Santa, was so happy to see his reaction along with my other colleagues, lovely wee sextant although I have no idea how it works or how good it actually it is, it just felt really really lovely

Looks great!
Love it. Great for the price. The magnifier for reading the scale is very small and not easy to use but can be swiveled aside. Looks great as a decoration

This is not a working sextant
This is a paperweight, a working sextant it is not.You can move the arm but it clearly is intended as a paperweight and nothing more.

Does not work
Buyer beware! The instrument we received is not functional. This is an attractive brass instrument that would look very nice on a shelf however for anyone that wants a working tool this is not it. By the time my 14 year old had worked out how it should work it was after the 30 day return policy and so we could not even get our money back. The issues he was able to spot were; the horizon mirror is not perpendicular with the body of the sextant and you cannot adjust it, and the shades are not properly aligned with the mirrors and are too small so are useless at reducing the suns brightness. He also had to use bluetac to keep a few loose bits from moving. Going to look for a proper one now.

Solid and well made.
Next time you're lost at sea and don't have a sat-nav on hand, you'll not go too far wrong with this little diamond. Provided, that is, you know how to use it... no manual provided!
