NURSE ASSIST PILLCRUSHER

My nutrition comes solely through a PEG tube. Up until I found this pill crushing syringe, I had to crush each of my regimen of pills and put each crushed pill aside and begin the next; very time consuming. Using the pill crushing syringe cut medication time significantly. The plunger glides easily, but cleaning the syringe manually keeps the gliding ability longer than if washed in a dishwasher. When the glide becomes difficult, I found a sterilized glycerin to be applied the the tip of the plunger, extending the duration and usefulness of the syringe.In most cases, and with most of my medications, I place one, or several, tablets in the pill tube, twist the plunger, then suck water in by pulling the plunger; my medication is mixed and ready for ingestion. One point: if the medication is not mixed, using a cup with a small amount of water, then fill the tube and release the mixture several times back into the cup. This helps the certainty of proper dissolution of medications.Finally, I use some medications in capsule forms. I can't swallow a capsule but, after checking with doctors and medicine manufacturers, I open capsules and follow the same routine as with a crushed pill. Some capsules are time released and should not be crushed, but placing the medication in my liquid nutrition helps getting the pill content into my stomach.This syringe has made life easier for me and I recommend using it to others in a similar situation as mine.

Great idea. It doesn’t work so great for me. I have arthritic hands and can’t crush ills unless they a fairly soft to start with.

whoever came up with this concept should have a holiday to celebrate their life. i have to do medications through a j-tube every day, four times a day. using a standard pill crusher meant a mess, not to mention that i wasn't getting the full dosages of any of my pills because so much was left stuck in the crusher. melting the pills in a regular syringe with hot water was time consuming and impossible to do away from home. this product solved all my medication woes. i ordered one and after using it for one day i ordered another six. i will be keeping these in stock for as long as i have a j-tube (so probably the next 60 years or so!)

We have been using this product for upwards of 10 years. They have always worked great but over time the top “handle” wears fown and breaks so we have to purchase again. The last fee times we have ordered the syringes have zero suction and do not intake water well nor hold the water. Making all of the crushed meds come right out all over. Super frustrating. I think it’s over lubrication if the syringe and possibly not the correct sizing of the black silicone ring. Hopefully production can catch this because right now as it stands the last 4 are completely worthless.

Great syringe but after a handful of uses the top piston breaks off and then the syringe is unusable for crushing medications. They also get very stiff after just a few uses but is easily remedied with a bit of cooking spray to relubricate the the rubber.

Overall nice quality. Pricey but works well for what I need it for. The weak link seems to be in the "O" ring which binds up over time which limits usefulness for the price. Otherwise, very fine product. I use it mostly once a day and lucky to get two weeks use before it becomes unusable.

I had a hard time grinding some of the pills up; I have a large dog and a small dog. The small pills are fine but I feel like I need so much liquid to ensure I got all of the pill delivered, sometimes with my smaller dog, I felt like two syringes full us more than her belly can hold. And larger pills for my big dog took forever to grind up and then clogged in the opening. It's a decent concept but there's always some leftover in the neck of the syringe.

I work in the medical field and when I saw this I was intrigued. I bought 2 of them to crush my cats pill since he fights horribly with his pil . Crushes his pill extremely fine and a small bit of warm water has made my life so much easier. I wish my facility would buy these for our g-tube. Such a simple but brilliant idea.
