Hillman HOMEPAK 41814 Flat Head Phillips Wood Screws

I ordered the HOMEPAK Wood Screws to complete a few odd projects around the home, and I'm certainly glad I did! Here's what I liked:Nice Weight and QualityIt was apparent from the minute I held the screws in my hand, that they're of a higher quality than some of the other options out there. They have nice, solid feel. Many of the low-quality screws I've worked with felt cheap and light.Catch Wood WellThe screws catch the wood well, so I didn't have to use a lot of force. I have had a huge problem in the past with cheap screws not catching the wood and forcing me to muscle them in. This often caused a lot of damage. Not a problem with the HOMEPAK screws.Flush Well with WoodThe HOMEPAK screws flush well with wood.They don't jut out. I hate when screws look bulky and conspicuous. It's a huge pet peeve of mine.Don't Strip EasilyMost importantly, the screws don't strip easily! There's nothing worse than screws that strip. I used the screws for a couple of projects around my home and had zero issues with stripping.Great PriceThe screws are inexpensive, but are still great quality. A good deal! They have sharp tips which means they self-start in most wood except very hard woods which would require a pilot hole. They do not strip when used with the proper sized screwdriver. If you use one that is too small for the screw slots, of course it will strip it. Better to start with a LARGE head screwdriver and move downward until you find the proper size.This is what it is: a set of different sized flat head screws that work in wood. For the price, it's a good deal. I gave it four versus five stars only because it has six sizes; it should have at least 10 in my opinion.

Just moved recently and had used these previously for several projects around the house. Have to say that these are great, they come in a nice assortment of sizes and are very well made. Several people have mentioned an issue with the heads stripping. Sometimes with phillips head screws in general if you are not using the right bit size you can unintentionally strip them (have done it myself), but that's not the screws fault. I haven't had one of these strip on me yet. I had bought them at a hardware store before and paid quite a bit more for them, glad I found them here on Amazon at a great price. Under $10 with shipping, can't beat that deal! Thanks Amazon!

They're OK but I found the heads strip very easily. I bought these for a single project and they worked well for the 8 screws I needed. They're now somewhere in the garage and I may use a few more of them but won't be my go-to screw for future projects.

The screws arrived much quicker than expected, very pleased with this.. The screws are inexpensive, but are still great quality. There's a lot of them in the box. They catch the wood well, so I didn't have to use a lot of force. They don't strip and they they flush well with the wood. I'm very happy with these screws. I will order them again when needed.

These are crap. I tried screwing one into a board that was only 1/2 inch thick into a pre-made guide hole with a philipps screw driver by hand and when the screw was halfway in it snapped in half. It snapped so quickly and easily I first thought the screwdriver had just slipped. It's worth noting here I'm not some brawny well muscled man, I weigh about 130 pounds soaking wet and although I'm strong for how skinny I am, I shouldn't be able to snap a metal screw in half with a hand tool. The screw broke as if it were made of plastic. Useless.

If you plan on drilling a pilot hole for every screw these are probably ok, but they strip to easily to be drilled in wood without. Most would go half way in then strip and I would need to use pliers to remove them.
