Great book
Nice meditative pictures. Nice book for someone learning about moss. Not a detailed book with definitive moss ids.

Didn't see it myself cause was a gift, but got rave reviews
I got this book for my godson and he loved it. My sister also said that it's a lovely book.

Not what I wanted
It's nice, it's just not what I wanted or expected. It goes throughout the world. If that's something you'd like I would recommend it.

Beautiful
In some small areas this book can be a tad outdated in regards to new research and knowledge, such as the new research suggesting that the rhizomes play a role in the mosses absorption of nitrogen. The knowledge here though is not ancient as much as it is fundamental and that is a good thing but what makes this book great is it’s layout. The illustrations and photos are gorgeous, and laid out in a very organized visual flow. This book does not fluff up or bog down the knowledge with excess narrative. The knowledge here is very accessible and it earns its title as being an actual guide. Unlike Mossin’ Annie’s wonderful book The Magical World of Moss, the visual aids in this book are striking in a way that gets me less confused of which moss is which. I also have “Gathering Moss” which is all narrative trying to make the learning and wisdom feel more like the accidental bi-product of casual storytelling. This may not entertain you like the competing books, but this will be the one to keep for reference after you finish it. The other moss books are great though just to loan out to people and to add more recent knowledge (The Magical World of Mossing), or more ancient wisdom (Gathering Moss), but this is my favorite of the three and it’s worth the money to get this as a hardback. The size and feel in my hands is ideal for a book so not can be portable or on the coffee table as a picturebook.

Lovely first introduction to mosses
A lovely book to start your journey into the world of mosses. I thought there would be more identifying moss pictures. If you're looking for a book to identify mosses, this wouldn't be the book to get. But as an introduction it's great and the author and people interviewed share their passion. Lovely section on projects too.

una collezione di specie di muschio difficile da trovare
Ogni specie ha una descrizione e una fotografia molto esplicativa dedicata. Ottimo acquisto. Per chi ama il muschio, ovviamente. Attenzione: è in inglese.

Beschädigtes Exemplar erhalten
Kam leider mit komplett geknickten Ecken an. Eignet sich so natürlich überhaupt nicht als Geschenk!
