One and done
Yeah you need it, no dont be cheap. I bought off Wish and the Pocket thought it was a wireless module... Yeah its expensive but its necessary and they knew that when they priced it. OP internal audio doesn't suck but this is that next level upgrade. Bought this with the cheap Movo shotgun mic and Alcoon holder, couldnt be happier. If you use the Pocket regularly get this, get the Alcoon phone holder (metal and cheap), a cheap mic (movo has natural sound, better than most budgets) and of course a light. Aperture M9 is great but the Viltrox L116t is awesome. Bi-color, dimmable. Not small but output is fantastic for the price. And just like that you have a legit film rig. It seems like DJI milked their customers a bit on this one, maybe because the Osmo was never a hit like they expected and they toted this as more refined than a gopro, which it is but the accessories are overpriced. It could be worse tho because I'll take this setup any day of the week over a dslr or phone/gimble setup. Faster, easier and very dynamic. Buy it once, keep it safe, get the results you want. Oh and get Polar Pro standard filters. Dont waste money on the gold ones. And the Freewell wide angle lens, that is not optional comrade.

It Works and You Will Need it
The one thing I dislike about it is that I needed to buy it. This is one of those things you would think should be part of the package. They know you will need it, so you pay for it. I will say from previous experiences, don't be cheap. The knock off's don't work or inject noise into the audio, this one is the real deal and it works. The onboard audio isn't bad for such a small device, but this is what you need to get the real sound using a wired mic. Buy it once, keep it safe, close to where you keep the Osmo, you will get the great results you want. It helps to enjoy the camera a little more..

Works as advertise
Bought this so that I could use one of the lavelier mics I have for doing videos for my YouTube channel. I already had my OSMO Pocket on the latest firmware. They say the devil is in the details and in this case it is correct. The user manual booklet almost requires a magnifier glass to read the fine print. The important thing to remember is that you can only plug in a TRS (Tip-Ring-Shield) connector for the mic to work. If you have a mic with a TRRS (Tip-Ring-Ring-Shield) connected, you will want to put an adaptor on it to convert it to a TRS connector for things to work. My initial test was with a R0DE Smart Lav+ using the TRRS to TRS adaptor. When I plugged in the OSMO adapter, a message appeared on the display about the adapter being plugged in. With the Lav mic plugged in, I saw a three bar gauge appear in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Having tried it with a smartphone attached to it but hope for a little larger display.

Expensive for what it is...but it works.
This is the only adapter I've found that will work with the Pocket Osmo (PO) and it's a shame because it's way overpriced In comparison to other OEM adapters and in comparison to the other PO accessories. Begrudgingly I bought it and it does what it's supposed to do hence the 4 stars overall, but the design seems almost an afterthought with it sticking out of the bottom...a more stable design would have been something similar to the wifi module or better yet integrated into the wifi module. This is the only PO adapter that looks like it was made for something else. I really like the PO and I get DJI's modular approach but at the very least there could get this to work with the wifi module instead of using one or the other. DJI should have made another mic adapter that slots into the controller wheels data port (with or without a controller wheel port slot) as it would be safe to assume that if you had the wifi module on you are controlling the gimbal with your phone and can use the port for an external microphone. It's not too late but given th PO has been out for over a year...chances are we wont see this developed. DJI if ever there is a PO2 (might be a long shot given the success of the Osmo Actions electronic stabilization) please make it work with the accessories for the PO.

It works
I use it to connect a Røde mic. Audio works as expected. If you were hoping to plug this into The osmo pocket wireless module, you’re going to be very disappointed. It does not work when plugged into the wireless adapter. DJI really missed an opportunity by missing this. Other than that complaint, you really do need this if you have an osmo pocket and want good audio. I’m guessing that if you are reading the reviews for this product, you already know how bad the built in mic is on the DJI osmo pocket.

Excellent adapter to plug-in a lapel microphone mini plug into the Osmo mini
This allows you to plug-in a Lavalier mini plug microphone into the mini Osmo to attach to your lapel for much better sound quality, especially if you are standing behind the camera while filming. This particular adapter is expensive but the generic ones on eBay come with user complaints about line noise and static.

It Works-Pretty Expensive
This adapter works great with my Osmo pocket. The biggest problem is using a tripod or a monopole with it. I found a couple of workarounds. It would have been better if they had packaged it with a short 90 so that you could more easily adapt it to a tripod with a tripod holder, but alas, I figured it out and all is good.
