Have not been able to go over 2900 watts
While the unit is compact and 12 volt.... I have not been able to draw over 2900 watts or run a small refer/freezer without it shutting offFor the price it did not expect much

Great Inverter and Great Customer Service
I have had this inverter up and running for about 5 months now and it's running great. I had a couple of detailed questions regarding voltage, alarm and shutdown procedures so I could adjust my other components accordingly. Their customer service is fantastic, they answered every question I had. I am running about half of my house on this system and I picked this 3500w inverter because it had great reviews. And now I can see why. I have 4x270watt solar panels producing 1080 watts plus an 800watt wind turbine and I am running two (5kwh) Tesla S lithium batteries. I used 2/0 cables for all my connections to insure they would stay nice and cold (and the good (yellow) romex coming out of the inverter). Everything is working great and I could add 4 more panels to this system as I bought more than I needed with this inverter in case I wanted to expand later. I know you can mount the batteries and the inverter in any position, but since I had the room, I chose to mount everything horizontally.

Not for long term/constant use!
I loved this when I first got it.I recommended it to everyone that was looking into getting an inverter. Can’t recommend this to anyone anymore.I Full-time in an RV and use this exclusively to run my residential fridge and a small chest freezer. It worked beautifully until about 6 weeks ago. Now, it constantly turns itself off and screams at me until I reset it.I can find no reason for it to do this.Even if both the freezer and the fridge turn on at the same time, the surge draw is less than the rated wattage. It’s not the battery voltage either.I actually run two inverters of my battery pack of 8 GC2 batteries wired for 12v and approximately 400ah of usable power. The Aims branded inverter hasn’t even hiccuped, not even once! This inverter, while being a real PSW type, (my meter confirms that it puts out a solid 58 to 62Hz), can’t handle half the rated draw without going into fault mode. It’s too bad that we can’t seem to get a decently priced and decent made product anymore.

Power Hog!!!! & NICE BURNT SMELL WHEN I OPENED THE PACKAGE
You know that smell, the Oh Crap i just cooked one of my electronics. The smell of electronic death. This guy wreaked when i opened the plastic. So I took off the case and looked for anything baked off, no signs of problems so i put it back together and hooked it up. Runs good, so it wasn't this unit that had the problem, but the little guy on the production line next to him must have had a really bad day.Back to the Problem - The Power HogJust go back from a camping trip, my first use of this inverter. I took 6 kilowatts of power with me (in the form of lithium ion battery packs) This sucker ate threw all 6K of power in 3 days running only a little 30" tall college fridge and being used as a usb recharging station for our phones.I didn't have my watt meter with me, but wow forget what they list as power efficiency. The lights on the display are super bright, that can't help, but the cooling fan came on constantly. My little fridge has such a low draw and i have tested it using a kill a watt meter and i never peaks over 200w draw which is only for a few seconds as the compressor kicks in. otherwise it is only drawing 30w.Its great to have as a backup, but don't plan on using it all the time - unless you have unlimited batteries

WEAK TO SURGES! Don’t buy!
This unit is very weak to surges and is NOT worth your money or your time. We have lived on a sailboat for the past 13 years so I have a lot of experience installing this type of equipment on multiple vessels to include my own. This unit was installed exactly as directed and blew the first time we had a slight surge on our vessel. Understand that NOTHING else, and we have a lot of electronic equipment on board as we are modern day cruiser/liveaboards. After examining the unit closer I found the internal electronics to be completely under par for the units supposed capabilities. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
