Will the 4 rack actually hold 4 bikes? It looks quite narrow and the pictures show a bike in every other slot.

I have the 5 bike rack and can fit 5 bikes in it with ease. So would assume the 4 would be adequate for 4.

If you mount this to the wall can you store both adult and children's bikes on it. I don't understand how the bikes fix to rack itself

I have not tried but I imagine you will need to get the height right to suit different size wheels.
