Immediately improved my sharpening
Been learning to hand sharpen for 6 or 8 months now. Made some progress in getting things clearly sharper than when I started, but not really as sharp as I'd like. For example, can cut through a piece of paper but can feel the drag of the blade. When I take a brand new knife out of the drawer that I haven't used yet and cut the paper, it feels completely different in that there's no drag on the paper. I wanted to get to that level. These simple devices help me get my angle for both my global knives correct. And I'm much closer to that friction free cuts through that paper.

Steady as she goes
These guard rails hold the blade at an angle more steady than I could have held it with out their help. They are really worth using.

They work
So if you are like me? And when I bought my first Wetstone I was concerned that I would mess up my really expensive set of global knives by not keeping my angle correct. It still took some practice, but these really helped a lot. And I still use Em when I break out my wetstone.

Makes a big difference!!
I found this guide makes a noticable difference in the sharpness level. I slice tomatoes frequently. This is how I could easily tell whether a knives has the sharpness level that I wanted. My previously sharpened knives required a slight pressure to pierce through the tomato skin. With the knives sharpened with this guide glide right through without any effort.

They are a good quality product
The product quality is good but the first order got lost in the shuffle somewhere down the line . The second order made it just fine and on time . They help me keep a proper angle while sharpening some of my knives. I would buy again .

Ok but not great for me
I found these to be adequate for sharpening my Global knives BUT hard on my whetstones. I was needing to re-flatten my whetstones between each knife. Maybe my stones are partly to blame but I have not had that issue when sharpening without a guide. I bought these to help speed up my sharpening process and improve my results. Ultimately I believe I traded one problem for anther by using these. I also believe I will burn through my whetstones if i continue to use.

very handy sharpening guides.
Excellent little sharpening guides, especially the small one, great for narrow knives. I'm very happy with them.

Great as a training tool
They did what they were advertised to do. I actually think they're great to get you started as they show you the exact ideal angle to sharpen, and of course help you keep it there even with otherwise poor form. After using them several times, I got the hang of it all and can forego these guides. So an excellent training tool I'd say. I may be weird, but I think rubbing the blade AND the guide on my sharpening stones is probably wearing out my stones twice as fast. So I'm glad I'm not using them anymore. Having said that, there may be a certain knife I obtain in my future where, due to it's size or shape, it will be much easier to sharpen with the guide. For that reason, I'm keeping them and so should you. Or to lend to a friend or family member who wants to get into knife sharpening with wet stones. Lots of reasons for me to hang onto them. Stay sharp, Jay
