4K passthrough is just so you can see it in 4K the recordings will be 1080P
It did it's job for the time and took the workload off for streams It still works but i'm probably gonna be using my 40 series for vids in future due to higher resolution recording and AV1 Encoding but this is great for recording my PS4 it allowed a 4k passthrough to upscale my old 480p nintendo wii on old gamecube games like metroid prime making it at least a little clearer, if you can't afford an extortionate elgato this is the next best thing to get your streaming or youtube career going!10/10 capture card for it's pricing!

Great quality for a budget capture card.
I bought this to record Nintendo Switch gameplay. I wasn't expecting the picture quality of the recordings to be so good and the framerate to look so smooth because of the price but it does. It's obviously not going to look as good as using an Elgato capture card but it still looks really good..I ran in to some issues setting it up tho. At first, the audio quality was terrible but I found a fix online by just changing a couple of sound settings on my computer and it's fine now. I also ran in to an issue with it saying something like Copy protected content in OBS but I found a fix for that too. I noticed later on that there was crackling/static in the audio but I found a fix online for that too. It was a lot of messing about to get it set up right but I've got no problems now.I was slightly worried about it not being able to run properly because I haven't got a dedicated graphics card and all that on my laptop. It's just for general use but the HDMI passthrough in the capture card takes a lot of the strain of the CPU when recording. It was only at about 9% while recording. I didn't notice any stutters in the recordings or anything like that. It works great. I did add 16 gig of ram to my laptop, that probably helped, idk.If you're worried about buying this with a low end PC, I wouldn't be. It's a great budget capture card.

Finally a capture device that supports this generation of consoles!
This is the first capture card to have the necessary 4k120 passthrough to allow for recording your XBox Series X/S or PS5 while playing games using both VRR and 120hz modes. The card also supports HDR recording though the format is P010(HDR) which is a format I was totally unfamiliar with and so it took em a while to actually capture videos without them looking washed out.The pros for this device is that it just works. OBS supported it without any issues though you need to make sure that your PC has a suitable USC C port available. The manual says that you need a USB C 3.2 port though I think mine is a 3.1 port and I had no issues with recording videos. Oddly while the USB C 3.1 port worked fine on my PC. The same type of port on a Mac did not allow me to use 4k60 recording. So your mileage may vary if you are using something lower than the recommended 3.2 port. The cons are that it was surprisingly difficult to find the Avermedia software to control the lighting on the device and adjust it's settings. Instead of downloading the version at the bottom of the product page you should in fact click the show more link and select the newest versions from there. Why Avermedia don't ensure the correct link is on the product page is a mystery.Overall this is a great product and I look forward to seeing if Elgato create a response to this. I am also looking forward to Avermedia updating their stand alone product (the one that records to sd cards directly) with the new HDMI 2.1 capability. I suspect I would happily get that version instead of this one if it had been available. Like many of you. I prefer to just play and record the footage without having to check a PC, set up OBS etc etc. Then transfer the data to something like Black Magick for editing and upload.Conclusion. Is this device worth the money. Yes with one exception. Currently there is zero support for ultra wide formats so if you happen to have an ultrawide display. Then steer clear until the promised support for such displays is actually available. Although Avermedia have promised they will support these displays. A promise if worth very little when your hard earned money is involved.

Small, useful and delivers on its promises
I was surprised with its small size, which is a plus. The box works intuitively without the need for setup and you can get going in minutes. The RGB is in a rainbow pattern by default, but with a firmware update you can get from the company's website, I was immediately able to control the lights from the Windows interface itself without any extra software, which was incredibly convenient. It comes with an HDMI cable of good quality. The only lesser component in the package is the 3.5mm cable, which was picking up some static, but it's cheap to get a better one and once I swapped, it was giving me 100% clear sound. Recommended!

Overall a Great Product for Streaming and Game Capture
I bought this and found the features to be great, robust, and easy to use. The Avermedia software works well with a sweet of tools to use as a standalone if you are not looking to use with OBS or another streaming tool.I choose this card due to the pass-through features. As I play competitively online I wanted to limit the input lag for streaming which I have been limited to on some Elgato and Hauppauge Capture cards I've purchased in the past.As I am playing at 1440p at 144hz this is the perfect range for my current setup and I am also able to record the 1440p 144hz easily without any impact to my gaming. This card is also well placed in terms of value with 4K HRD recording features (gameplay capture set at 4K60hrz - record 4K30Hrz) which will be great for the next generation consoles coming out this November/December 2020.Please keep in mind that you will need a pc or laptop to use this capture card. & and USB extension cables you use will not work so the device will need to be close to the PC/Laptop.
