Yes. Netgear C7000 is one of the compatible ones. I have Atlantic Broadband too.

This is new to me. i have to 2 slow internet connection (adsl line and cable), could i have an internet connection with the speed of the sum of them?

Short answer: yes, but hard and not with the result that you expect. If you can barely watch a movie without Loading indicator, the with 2 lines you could watch 1 OR 2 movies at the same time with same barely acceptable experience, while getting 1 faster connection allows you to either watch 1 movie in better quality, or 2 with the previous experience.

does it work with verizon fios only?

Fios does not use modems. The device they give you is a gateway router to convert their fiber optic cables to coax. If you are trying to improve your wifi then all you need is a wifi router. You can deactivate fios wifi within their router or keep it on and have 2 wifi routers running.
