I have bought several of the Back Road Country Old fashioned licorice for my niece and myself in the past few years. This has always been our go to licorice. It's good strong licorice flavor, and always perfectly soft to chew. The quality of the liquidation and the price are both very good.

Very good black licorice
We had a subscription for a different black licorice manufacturer but for some reason that has been “unavailable” for the last 3 months. I wanted to keep my wife happy so I chose this to sample and consider as a replacement subscription item. We got our first package yesterday and I want to report that I found the licorice quite tasty and soft. I’m pretty sure this will be our new subscription licorice but I have one other coming Monday to test before making that decision. It is, regardless, a very good black licorice stick.

Not Impressed!
I was really expecting something special from this "Old Fashioned Classic Black Licorice", especially after reading the rave reviews. Maybe it's just me, but it just tasted like a lot of corn syrup with very little licorice flavor. It reminded me of Twizzlers, which I really, really dislike. I think I'll just stick with the Australian brands, thank you very much.
