Works great... A necessary item when raising worms...
Right now it is summer and the temps are approaching a 100 degrees. I am new to raising worms and was starting to worry about the health of the worms in my six bins as the temps started rising above the 90 degrees that can kill composting worms. I have initiated a couple of minor precautions that have kept the bins 15 to 20 degrees cooler than the outside temps. Some of these precautions are using white bins, keeping bins in shade, digging bins into the dirt, putting shredded wet cardboard on top of the bin soil and wet old towels on top of the bins themselves for evaporation cooling. Due to summer heat, I use this Thermometer daily, and I will likely have to use the thermometer and other precautions in in winter as well to keep my worms as close to 70 degrees as possible.

Simple is as simple does.
It's as simple as just sticking it in the dirt and immediately seeing the temperature.
