I have painted roof Fascia boards and painted roof eves. Will this product work on a painted surface?

Unfortunately our product is not a topical product like paint. For Dri-One to be effective it needs to be able to soak into the woods cellular structure to bond to the wood. Paint prior to treating wood with Dri-one inhibits is ability to soak in. If you apply Dri-One to raw bare wood, prior to paint or stain, let it dry...Then, it can be painted or stained easily with total confidence your wood is protected from flame.
There are Flame Retardant paints or additives for paint on the market. They are topical. If there is a chip or crack in the paint, the wood behind is still not flame protected, so that wood will eventually ignite when exposes to flame.. That is why Desert Research Institute does not offer those types of products.

Is this product been tested to astm e119 or ul 263?

Accepted Answer

The direct answer is; No, we do not have those official designations.
I can, however, tell you that nuclear power plants, commercial architects, and commercial builders have individually tested our product against most of our competitors and  even Pressure treated materials. Dri-One has always out performed our competitors in both the wood and textile arenas. Dri-One is currently being used in all mentioned applications to date. Recently, a large Japanese Architecture firm building many new buildings in the east, tested our product. They are now calling us out as the only Flame Retardant to be used in all their projects.

Hi, will this product work on Styrofoam materials ?

Accepted Answer

We get this question quite often. The short answer is.....There is no short answer. It depends on how the Styrofoam was manufactured. If it has a smooth surface that repels our product it will not absorb into its pores, therefore will not be effective at all. Dri-One is not a topical treatment.  It needs to be able to penetrate the surface such as raw wood or fabric. Even if you have porous Styrofoam, the melting point can be low enough that nothing can stop it from melting, however in many cases Styrofoam treated with Dri-One will not burn as it melts.  We have been approved by most fire inspectors across the country to be used in Haunted Houses to treat Styrofoam, and most foam rubber. The image that shows a seal is difficult to see to confirm.  does this have a ca state fire marshal seal?
