Great story of resiliency
I'm an elementary school counselor and I read this to my classrooms to demonstrate resiliency. The kids were engaged in the story and seemed to enjoy the lesson.

Gain a new perspective on overcoming obstacles.
Gain a new perspective on overcoming obstacles by reading this biographical book about Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah.Born in Ghana with a deformed leg, Emmanuel was considered “useless” and “a curse,” but not by his mother, Comfort, who “had faith.” She uses tough love to show her son that he can be independent. When Emmanuel loses his mother as a teenager, he is determined to honor her by showing everyone “that being disabled does not mean being unable.” Emmanuel organizes and completes a 400-mile bike ride across Ghana to bring attention to the difficulties the disabled in the country face. “The young man once thought of as cursed was becoming a national hero.”The mixed-media illustrations transport you to Ghana and burst with as much faith as Mama Comfort. You can’t help but be inspired by this book.

Class read
I assigned this as a class read with my 3-5 grade kids. It is nicely illustrated and described by one student, a real story that is important to know.I will keep this on my yearly read list.

Emmanuel’s Dream
I like about this book because he did amazing things and I didn’t like about this book was his mom got sick when he was 13 years old. I recommend this to everyone in the community. I chose this rating because it was a very very very good book. I even learned that no one is perfect!

Brings tears to my eyes at bedtime story time.
This is a book that really encourages you to aspire to do better in life and brings sheer amazement every time I read it.My children were quite upset at parr’s... but that’s ok because life is about u see standing others pain and helping them through it.It’s important to read books like this to increase my children’s knowledge and appreciation of the greatness that resides in people of African descent and to be proud of their heritage. Representation matters!

Inspiring and true story about an inspiring boy with a disability in Ghana
Fantastic book - colourful, inspiring, true. Children at my school pass this to each other with an exhortation to, "read this, it's amazing".The true story of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah who with only one leg cycled around Ghana to improve attitudes to disability is a tale worth sharing.
