We use this for cutting raw meat into strips. We operate in a limited space environment and do not have room for a dedicated counter top model. I do not know of a better alternative to this machine for our purposes. The machine itself has two flaws. The first is a minor gripe in how meat accumulates in the spaces the combs do not cover. My major gripe is the bearings start to leak grease into the food with about two weeks of use. It struggles to its death from that point and you can hear the grinding of the bearing, the grease leaking, the wobble in the blades, and you hope and pray it lasts long enough for you to get your return on investment. The warranty people are an insulting joke. I will not bother again with them. That said, I have determined the value in space is worth replacing the unit every 8 months or so. I am on my third unit so far as of writing this review.
