Quality brush. Still in great shape after one year.
I recently got into shaving with an old school safety razor, and this is the best brush I have owned so far. Other ones have shed too much, or the bristles got knotted up and unusable, but this one has been great. I have had it for almost a year now and it is still in excellent condition. It shed a few hairs at first, and it loses one every once in a while, but other than that I am very pleased with the quality of this brush. It lathers well, and is comfortable on my skin. My one gripe with it is that the wooden base is very light and feels cheap, but this doesn't bother me enough to knock a star off because overall it is great. Brushes of similar quality are sold at Art of Shaving for much more money. I feel like this product is a good deal and am happy I went with it.

A very good badger brush with a few cosmetic issues
According to what I read on the internet, this is an entry level badger. Pure/super badgers and silver tip badgers are better quality brushes. Again from what I read, pure badger hair brushes are better with holding water and are softer. Silver tips are the best in their category about retaining water and softness, but they are not a very big upgrade over the pure badger brushes. I got mine knowing -or assuming that I know- what I was getting myself into :)The first impression: To me, the brush looks bigger in the pictures here. The bristles are nice and soft and firmly attached to the base. The color is exactly like those in the pictures. The color of the handle is a dark blue/green. The parker stamp is cheaply made and wears off very easily. The glossy finish of the handle seems to be fine, except that the edges of the base were not properly painted before finishing and so some of the wood shows off. This is the only quality issue I had with mine. The brush arrived in a nice black carton box. The box doesn't look bad at all. If you are giving this as a gift the original box will do the job. You don't need to look for another box.The results. Well, first lesson. Wash the brush thoroughly before the first use. Although it seemed clean, when I started working up the lather I was frustrated with what I saw... all the dirty brown leche and tiny short badger hairs fell off to the sink. As if the badger just had a shave :) You wouldn't want to put that on your face. After soaking the brush into warm water for a few minutes the brush is capable of producing a very nice soft lather. I am using Col. Conk shaving soap and very happy with it. Work it on your palm for about a minute and it holds enough lather for 2-3 passes easily. I just wish that the brush was a little bigger. The stand is cheap plastic, but does the job. There is hole on the back of the stand so that you can mount it on the wall. You might want to buy a good stand for it in the long run.Overall, this is my daily use brush and I am very happy with it. The brush does what it is supposed to do very nicely. so I don't care about the few cosmetic issues I described above. I recently converted back to classic shaving with a double edge razor after fiddling around with electric shavers and 16V 4WD blah blah razors. I discovered that I forgot what a nice and easy shave was like. If you are looking for a nice badger brush I am sure this one won't make you regret.

Great brush!
I'm a recent "convert" to safety razor shaving, having used a Gillette Fusion prior to this. I purchased a Merkur 180 razor and Proraso shaving soap to couple this with. So I don't have any other brushes to compare this with but I'm very happy with it and think it comes at a great price as well. The bristles are very soft and over the course of a month I've lost maybe 4 of them which is a complete non-issue to me. I noticed a very small smell if any and I have to believe the company thoroughly addresses that issue prior to shipment. Whatever small smell is left I'm sure will fade in time. The handle is very attractive like a lot of people mention. It's wood and has a unique deep blue/green color to it. The bristles are very soft, make a great lather, and lubricate the face properly for a good shave. The plastic stand is basic but just what you need to allow the brush to dry after shaving and I'm glad it comes with it. I'd definitely recommend this brush.

Very nice shaving brush
Years and years ago I shaved with a coarse haired brush and shaving soap, both from old spice. I thought it was novel and since I was young and inexperienced I thought it was the norm. With the internet and our world shrinking, you can now be exposed to so much more products and quality. I re-visited the whole shaving 'thing' one day and decided to return to the brush and soap in a mug. After doing a bunch of reading on the subject, it seemed that everyone was hooked on the badger bristle brushes so I ordered this one. It came in the mail quickly and without error. Un-boxing it revealed a very nicely made product. I've used it a couple of times so far and the reviews I read were right. It whips up my shaving cream into a nice lather, quickly. And it feels wonderful as I use it to apply the cream to my face. Soft. Nothing like that brush from days of old! Clean up was a breeze and no bristles coming out so far. I highly recommend this brush.

Excellent Shave Brush
This is an excellent shave brush. It's not the fanciest thing out there, and not the prettiest thing out there, but it gets the job done quite well. The bristles are very soft, hold a lot of moisture and create a lather very well. The handle looks good, but you can tell it's definitely designed for the more budget conscious wet shaver. I haven't had any problems with the paint flaking off the parker logo, but I fully expect it to. The handle looks good, but it's very light weight. I prefer a slightly heavier handle, but that's just a matter of personal preference. I haven't had a problem with bristles coming out after several months of using it... lost a hair once or twice at most. There was no badgery smell, even when brand new... and no break in period was needed. I think this is a great gift for others, or a good upgrade to someone that started off with a cheapy bargain brush.
