Looks basic and primitive but works GREAT!!
Skeptical at first, but saved me an hour and a half! Here’s how….I am rebuilding my car that was in an accident. I had to replace the inner fender which unfortunately is spot welded instead of bolted on. I researched online how to remove spot welds and there was a wide range of options with costs from five dollars to hundreds of dollars. Found this on my amazon search and thought I would give it a go. The reason I went with this was because it had the sharpened edge on two sides were some of the cheaper ones only had it on one side. When I initially received it I felt a little disapointed as it looks like flat stock with a sharpened edge. However, as I used it, works awesome! Caution does need to be used as this tool isn’t discriminant and will slice through sheetmetal quickly. It will not cut throught the spot weld itself but instead cuts through the metal surrounding the spot weld. It can cause a lot of damage with ease. But found that if you position it where the damage will be caused on the junk piece you are removing that you can get it apart without any damage to the parts that stay on the car. Then some light grinding to flaten out the spot weld and you are good to go. I removed this same thing with a drill at the junk yard and it took me 2 hours. I was able to remove the same things on my personal car with this tool in 30 mins-no joke! Works great. The pictures included shows what I had to take off and the end results. So don’t let the primitive look discourage you away from purchase. This is a very cost effective solution that works fantastic.

Excellent tool for body work
This is a tremendously handy tool for body work. I'm currently replacing rusty floor pans and rocker panels on a 1955 Chevrolet sedan and I spent the first weekend using a wonderbar, chisel and screw drivers that ended in a lot of frustration. While ordering some replacement bits to grind out the spot welds, I saw this tool and decided to give it a chance. It is amazing how effective it is at splitting panels not to mention deforming the metal just enough to make the ancient spot welds visible. For some of the spot welds, this bar was tough enough to just pop them apart though I don't believe it is meant to be used like that. I would buy this again if I lost the one I have after having used it for just one day.

Amazingly useful tool
If you do any kind of automotive metal repair work, this is indispensable.Never would have thought a tool could take the beating this does. Used it to separate factory welds where a spot weld cutter would not help.Even after beating, it remains straight and sharp.

Great buy if breaking apart spot welds
I bought this tool because it was recommended by Amazon when I was buying a spot weld cutter. I wasn't sure if I'd need it or not, but it turned out to be the best tool. It was super easy to use for my project and I believe much easier and stronger than the flat head screw driver I was planning to use. I'd definitely recommend to anyone doing automotive body work that has to separate spot welded sheet metal. The tool stayed sharp and straight through the whole project.

works pretty well
haven't used it much but is nice tool to have. works very well after using spot weld drill for the little tags that seem to escape the drill bit but you don't know are still hanging on until you try to separate the parts. also works pretty well for cutting thru spot welds that you can't get a drill to first. takes a bit of hammering but the tool seems to take the beating in stride.
