550 paracord has been proven to last through harsh conditions, and is rated with a minimum breaking strength of 550 pounds. It is tested and used by U.S. Military Personnel. When taken apart, it has 7 inner strands made of 2 strands each, for a total of 14 strands. Each of the 7 inner strands have a 50 lbs. tensile strength, and the outer sheath is rated at 200 lbs. Interesting Fact: Paracord is so durable and strong, NASA used it as one of their repair tools for the Hubble Space Telescope.
