Yes, 2 AA, which it came with - it also turns off after a few moments of inactivity to preserve power

What size is it? It says it is 3 x 4.2 x 5.8 inches but that seems really small

It was a gift for an 18 months old baby, I really don't remember the size. It was big enough for him, he'd play with other toys for a while but kept coming back to this one. Hope it helped you.
