Solidly made and great accuracy
I got this to work use with a SainSmart Genmitsu 3018 Pro desktop cnc machine. I used the depth gauge and the step gauge to square the xy-table to the frame and then took a set of measurements and used them to modify the GRBL code settings to re-calibrate x-, y-, and z-axis. The fine adjust let me do this with great control over the vernier scale. The material quality of the caliper is outstanding; stainless steel is good stuff, and I expect the caliper to last for years. The US customary main scale of the caliper is graduated in 10ths of an inch, which is convenient more convenient to read than usual division of the inch into 8ths, 32ths, and so on, of an inch. I prefer to work in the metric system instead of the US customary system and the retrograde metric vernier scale really makes taking readings easy. The US customary vernier scale is also retrograde making it easy to read.

Know what your getting
Very precise. Not so easy to use. I forgot how difficult vernier calipers are to use. Of course I chose them instead of digital or dial calipers, so I have only myself to blame.

Great for the money
These are built solid, easy to read, and work super smooth. What more could you want for the price? Id buy again.

Great customer service.
So the actual tool is fine. Actually great. It does what its made for and seems to be built very well. But when mine arrived the plastic case was damaged (in transit) so late that night I emailed the company asking if they'd send me a new cover. Most companies drag their heels on something as insignificant as that but when I woke up the next morning there was a message in my inbox from a guy named Dave saying he's gladly send me a new and try to have it shipped by the end of the day. Not only that but he said he'd send me an upgraded carry case from on of their more expensive products as well!IMO thats how you build brand loyalty and in future they'll have a repeat customer in me.

Very good for the price
Decent, fairly high precision caliper. Like another purchaser, my caliper was not properly zeroed. It is possible, however, to adjust the vernier scales to zero them-- the top scale is held in place with two screws, while the bottom is held by three, and there's enough play between the screw heads and their holes to make the necessary adjustments. It's fiddly work, and you'll need a magnifying glass and probably some kind of clamp to hold the scale in place while tightening the screws.Given the price, I find this acceptable, as well as the fit and finish of the unit as a whole. If you're looking for out-of-the-box perfection, you ought to buy one of the high-end Starrett or Mitutoyo models-- there's a reason they cost hundreds of dollars, and it's not because they have high markups.

Get at least the 8" one. It's good.
After a few hours shopping here for a good calipers I stumbled upon the Fowler. Based on feedbacks, I figured that their 6" one looked suspiciously like a chinese-made that are plenty. The 8" and 12" looked better. Got the 8" and I can't complain at all. The tool is exactly as the one described. A bit thin to my opinion, but super accurate. It came with a nice plastic foam-padded storage box too, I hope it'll last.

Calipers not as pictured
There is not a thumb screw adjustment, instead you must squeeze a spring loaded slide bar to move the caliper into position to measure an object. This is more awkward than having a rolling thumb screw. I am considering returning this item for this reason

Fantastic calipers
Very nice feel on these, they slide nice no crunchy noises. The readings are accurate i put them on a gauge block and it was smack on. Id even go as far to say that these beat starret
