SmartLab Toys Solar System Adventure Kit

It's as simple as you think for the price but it works well, moves freely (no motor). The light up sun was cool in a dark room with my 3 & 5 year old boys. We even put it together. I put the labels on (their the cheapest part, but workable) the arms, my oldest put the planets on, and my youngest slid them on the stalk (I organized order). I put the base together and did the earth because of the moon. This is one of the only ones I found that had a moon that would orbit the Earth.

My 4 year old son is very into the solar system right now and loves this! The planets are very small, so I would not recommend for younger than he is (we also have a 1.5 y/o that we have to keep this away from). He was able to assemble with help, but did already break one planet. The lunar rover was more complicated and pretty much built by my husband. My son loves having a 3-d visual of the order of planets and their distance from the sun. Overall, great cost and perfect for a kid who's interested in the solar system.

I thought it would have been sturdier than it was. It took about an hour to put all the little pieces together and it was cardboard.

Very very tiny and made with flimsy plastic. I purchased for my son's 1st grade science project and 2 pieces were broken within hours.

Many higher quality models available. This model is tiny! The one we recieved did not light up and had to be returned. We were also disappointed when we saw that the rover was made of cardboard.

Great product at a great price! The solar system model is very easy to put together & the Sun even lights up! It also comes with a sturdy cardboard/plastic model of the Mars Rover, although we haven't put that together yet, it does appear to be a decent product as well. The instructions for the solar system model & Mars rover are a long foldout page that on the flip side has a very nice poster of the solar system, even including meteor belts between planets. I would recommend this product.

Lets be clear this is a cheap model of the solar system. It does exactly what I wanted - provides a learning device for kids. The sun lights up and if it gets broken it's easy to fix and / or replace. It might sound silly but I looked at a bunch of these and for the money and function I'm very satisfied with this cheapo version of our solar system.

Great price. The solar system is smaller than it appears in the photos. The rover that comes with it is actually bigger than the system but was difficult to put together as it was like a 'soft' cardboard material. Overall for a 4th grade project, it works well. The sun lights up and everyone in class thought it was amazing.
