If you are wondering if you will use it...Buy It, You Will.
I have always wondered if i would use one of these tools. So when i had a job come up that i noticed it would be pretty much essential, i decided to take the plung. I ordered it in a kit so i could add 2 more batteries and a charger to my tool bags. I own about 12 makita lxt tools, and now have 3 chargers and 8 batteries. I couldn't be happier with each tool, and this one is no exception.I purchased it in conjunction with the versa-tool 15 piece saw set for another $60, and on the first day owning it I: plunge cut out a bottom of a decaying kitchen sink cabinet, cut out drywall extreemly fast and easily, cut through copper pipe with virtually no damage to allow a new sweat coupler, shaved off debris from some stock, and sanded off grout from a tub. Everything that needs to be done in tight quarters is better done with this tool. It will not wholesale replace a jigsaw or a recip saw, or a circ saw or even an orbitial sander, but it will do the job better than any of those tools when you need it in a small space, and without a cord.No complaints on my part of battery life, everyone knows that a grinder, or saw eats up battery. I didn't feel frustrated when it was time to change it, it worked like a champ with no back talking.I like the tool so much i think i am going to get my free bare tool in another multi-tool.Quick not on versa-tool blades, great set of blades, can't say anything about wear. but any craftsman knows extra blades on hand is a must. save yourself some pain and get a good set right off the bat, and the makita storage box that comes with this set works well at keeping them together.

GREAT Multi TOOL
in simple words, GREAT TOOL!!!. I can't speak for the contractors and professionals who may reading this, but for the DIYers in the group this is a must have for all those random jobs around the house. Since I purchased this set in June 2013 I have used it for cutting trim, sheetrock, copper pipe, bush pruning (yeah I know....), lots of sanding of various materials, and most recently spent 4 hours scraping up 30 year old carpet glue from a 15' x 12' section hard wood floor in a 100+ year old house.. This last experience is what pushed me to write this review. with a scraper attachment I was able to scrape off thick layers of this glue, allowing me to get down to the bare wood in no time. alternating with both batteries worked well, as they both lasted about 30-40 minutes between charges, going at full speed continuously. Had to keep sharpening the scraper blade, but the tool itself made quick work (relatively) of a daunting project. For this and all the other things I've been able to use this tool for I highly recommend it.

What can i say its Makita.
Would give 5 stars but sometimes the head will shift it's position and you have to take the blade off to correct. The blade isn't moving the whole blade, blade clamp and all move to a different angle. Other than that this thing is awesome it has lots of power and high rpm, two things that are important for a multi-tool, batteries and charger are in IMHO the best on the market. I have the impact and drill and I love those as well.

Great tool, crappy case.
Tool is great, two extra batteries helps me out a lot since all my tools use these batteries. Cuts through wood like butter and the batteries last a long time on this tool. The missing star is for the horrible case, expensive tools should come with a hard case or none at all for those that A: keep the tool in the case it came in to protect it or B: never use the case and put it in their tool box. Don't give us crappy cases anymore.

very expensive but really does the job
Well made, surprising power from the battery pack, lacks only a variety of cutting blades--the included small group not sufficient. The accessories one will need are typically expensive, for example, the sandpaper pack is ridiculously priced with few pieces supplied. Other cutting blades were out of stock at Amazon and Home Depot as well. Not enough accessories blades available anywhere under Makita brand, so I bought other brands that claimed to fit this tool. Really, why would Makita have so few interesting or useful tool accessories for such a multi-tool? Multi seems mini here.

Wish I'd bought this tool sooner
Love the tool. Worked great right out of the box, and I use it all the time for small and large projects. I had no experience using a multitool before, and can't believe I waited this long to buy one. It even works with the smaller 1.5 batteries that came with my drill/compact driver combo kit, which is an added bonus. I don't plan to use the smaller batteries with it, but knowing I can use all the batteries with all the tools is great.

Misleading...Not what it appears in the image. Not the DC18RC charger shown.
I bought this thinking it was a good deal because i wanted another smart charger (DC18RC) since that is what the picture shows. Instead I received the old green charger (DC18RA) that is not supposed to be used with the 4ah batteries I have for my other tools. I already have an old green one that I don't use. The picture is misleading. It is a good tool but not the charger I thought I was buying.

Makita ROCKS
In the last Month I have decided to invest in all new cordless tools (I had craftsman for 12 years now) I first bought the white Makita dual drill and compact drill and loved it so I decided to increase my inventory. I took advantage of the Amazon Prime and purchased 13 different cordless products that I have been wanting. They are light but yet built with quality I can't wait to start using all my new tools! Buy Makita you will not go wrong!
