Black Oil Sunflower Bird Seed, 40-Pound Bag

Clean, sand-free and very little debris (there will be some debris in all sunflower seeds, but this has very little). My backyard birds just love it! So much better than the store brand stuff that seems is nothing but sand now. Also half the price of the store stuff and twice the quality! I will purchase again and again! :o)

This 40lb bag of sunflower seed has lasted me ALMOST 4 months in my garden which feeds many, many birds. At $51 dollars that’s about $12.75 a month to keep all my local birds fed& happy. I care a lot about preserving birds in the local ecosystem so black seed sunflower is the best choice as the most birds will accept this kind of feed. I have zero issue with the shells then going into the earth because it all composts (I have a natural/ “organic” garden). Watching the birds brings me so much peace and joy, and I wouldn’t be able to do it from the comfort of my own backyard without such an affordable price. I’m a happy, repeat customer!

The birds are flocking to my feeder with this seed in it. It has very little "junk" in it that is not seed. It is good quality seed. I now have loads of different birds, finches, cardinals, tufted titmice, and more. It brings me joy to watch the birds eat at the feeder while I watch, and this feed definitely attracted beautiful birds.

These black oil sunflower seeds are a big hit with our neighborhood birds. As soon as we bring a jar filled with them to replenish our feeders out in the garden we hear the birds talking to each other as if to announce that dinner is served. Sparrows, scrubjays, oak titmice, finches,etc.... everybody loves these! We are always happy with this brand - excellent quality.

The birds seemed to eat this seed the same as other seeds and at $0.01/oz. less than the yellow bag or $6.40 less for 40 lb. its probably a good value. Only downside is the seed was dirty which made dust in the bin and clogged up the feeders more quickly hence 4 stars for more time spent cleaning feeders (maybe that’s even good given the recommendations on cleaning).

It’s great seed with little fillers. The bag is durable enough to resist rats that eat into the bag from the shed. Other brands I’ve bought , rats have eaten into the bag.

This sunflower seed brand is one of the very few brands that guarantee their seed was not treated with poisons! Great seed super deal from this supplier. . Almost all other growers that I have called I admit that rhe seeds are treated with systemic poison. One seed can kill a small livable songbirdbe. Don’t use other growers unless you call first. The poisonous seed produces poisonous plants so if rhe eat the plant they will die. they’re treated with a poison called Neonicatinoids. A phone call to a different grower verified their sunflower seeds were treated with a powerful systemic poison called neonicotinoids! This poison is commonly used on sunflower seeds to kill bugs. Call the suppliers. BUT ONE SEED WILL KILL A SONGBIRD. it should be illegal. I called the new company listed on the packaging which assured me their seeds had not been treated with this poison. For this reason I am giving this environmentally sensitive company called meadow ridge farms a 5 star rating.

This sunflower bird seed is the best quality I have purchased. It is fresher and contains less trash than any others I have purchased in bulk like this. Plus, the birds really love it!
