We have had three of these lights for six years now and they are still going strong. No issues at all. We never had lights flanking our garage and wanted to add some lighting and security around the outside of our house. We ended up with three of these and also replaced the light by our front door to match. We have a mid-century modern ranch and I didn’t want anything too modern looking. These were a nice balance. I was also expecting some cheap plastic housing, but nope. They are really solid and well made. Installation at the porch was pretty easy. The garage was a different story because we didn’t already have lighting there, but that obviously wasn’t the light’s fault. One of my favorite things is changing the colors. I use different colors for holidays, seasons, health causes and other special events. I have several routines saved in the app so it’s really easy. Most of the time I just have them set to come on at sunset and turn off at sunrise. Halloween and Christmas are especially fun because I change the lights to match our yard decorations. 😂 After six years with no problems, I highly recommend them. Based on how well they have held up so far, I expect to have them for many more years.

Absolutely LOVE these lights!!! Purchased 3 of them, 2 for ether side of the garage and 1 for the front porch. Originally had Hue bulbs in all three locations to work with my Hue bridge and now with these stand alone units, they will light up the entire front of my house. They are bright as heck and look amazing, worth every penny!!!

Phillips hue has been on the market for quite some time. I was looking for a light that I could easily integrate through my Alexa devices & I decided to take a chance. First, this light does NOT come with mounting hardware. I had to go to my nearest hardware store and buy tapcon screws as I was mounting this device on concrete. I recommend taking the light to the hardware store and showing it to someone who has knowledge on what tools you will need. You will also need a drill, drill bit (I used a concrete drill bit), Phillips screw driver, 16 gauge wire connectors, clear waterproof silicone, tapcon screws (I mounted on concrete)& a leveler. Seems like a lot but trust me..it’s not. I try to do what I can in the house without having to hire an expensive electrician. In my location I am able to install lights like these without needing a permit. Once you decide where you would like to place the light you must FIRST go to the breaker box and turn off the power to that specific area. Double check by flipping light switch on and off, no power means you are good to go. Remove the current fixture & disconnect the wiring. Then with Phillips screwdriver, remove the top and bottom screws located on the light. You will then see the led portion of the light. You will see 4 screws there and remove them. You will now have the mounting bracket. Use the bracket as a guide to help you determine where you will drill 4 pilot holes. Use the leveler in order to have your light level and straight. (You don’t want to have a nice light that is crooked) Once you drill 4 pilot holes, drill 4 tapcon screws into the desired area. Pull the wires through the mounting bracket and connect to the LED portion of the light. Remember .. white with white , black with black and make sure you place the ground wire on the “green” screw (you will see it) & use wire connectors to cap off the ends. Then you will use the 4 screws you previously removed form the LED portion and screw those on but not so tight.. at this time.. check to make sure the light turns on.. if so.. you are good to go. If not then check your wiring and make sure you use wire connectors. Now you are almost finished!! Place the glass faceplate cover on the led light and screw the top and bottom screws with Phillips head screwdriver. Remember to use the clear silicon to stop those pesky bugs, debris and moisture from entering the light. I have included pictures to show before and after application of silicon. It makes a mess and doesn’t look clean so I used a small piece or card board and worked my way around the light to remove excess silicone. Check out the nice finish afterwards!!! I have included pictures. Now that you have your light mounted !! Connect with the app and have fun playing with your new light. I was looking for a light fixture for my front porch to replace the builders thin disc LED light that did not dim. I have a whole house HUE setup and came across this one which is perfect! Instead of buying a separate fixture and Color HUE bulbs, this came at a great price point. Easy to install as it took me 15 minutes once old fixture was removed. Now I can change colors and set brightness to any level. Love it!

Great product, but I about hate the Philips Hue app. The light is bright, offers a wide range of color options, easy to install, modern and attractive. It works well with my 6 year old hub. I did decide to use the Alexa app to control it since the automations in the Hue app are useless.

I expect a lot from Hue and these lights delivered. The build quality is excellent and the light are extremely bright. They look great on and off. These really modernized our home. It should be noted no installation hardware what so ever is included. This comes with the light and nothing else. Not even wire nuts which I thought was cheap of Hue. If you are able to install these to your existing box using all your existing hardware and wire nuts you will be good to go. However I feel most people will need to buy something additional to install these so beware. I have installed these as wall lights and one as a kind of post light near my gate. Several people have asked about the lights inside. I have included photos of the LED panel inside the unit. Some people complained that these let in water or bugs. The last installation step clearly says to seal the units with caulk. I live in Florida with lots of bugs and water and I have had no issues. I sealed them around the edges with silicon caulk. Pros: Looks great on and off Build quality is excellent Easy to install with the right hardware Very bright and colors look great Cons: No installation hardware included Instructions could be better

In saying that maybe I should say it made me feel smart to buy it. I’ve had hue lights for some years now and use em all over the place, within reason cuz they’re not cheap. I needed to put up a light and found this. Given the price of this and the ways of the world i expected a flimsy product with a lot of plastic. Upon getting I find a substantial well built and very sturdy device. And best of all a fine looking modern fixture. It’s so nice I’d like to change out more lights with this. The fact that it’s got a hue lamp built in makes this very well designed device cool too. I recommend!

Husband installed these over two outdoor doorways in an old building, replacing fixtures that no longer worked. These were a royal pain for him to set up because the parts supplied didn't fit (I'm sorry I don't have details). Electrically they are correctly, safely installed. But he had to rig them as far as securing the fixtures to the building. He did. They're secure. It was a pain. But I love these lights! The simple design means it fits with virtually any style home (our style is "old brick school"). We can manage the lighting from afar. And the fixtures are just as reliable as the Philips Hue Smart Bulbs we use and depend on around the house. If you have a more modern building, replacing an old fixture with this light will probably take no more than half an hour. But if not, you may run into some issues. Not insurmountable, but annoying.

Excellent outdoor light from Philips Hue. The build quality feels solid, the design looks fantastic, and mounting it was reasonably easy. Just note that mounting screws and wall anchors are not included, so you’ll need to provide your own hardware depending on the installation surface.

After seeing our sons purchase - we purchased 3 - 1 for above the garage, one for the front porch and one for the garden patio. They are modern, funky and have given the house a "face lift." look great. The light is super bright and does the job for us. The installation was (or I should say looked) quite easy (I'm saying that on behalf of others - I did nothing !!) but the finished product is 100 times nicer than I had imagined. They are hooked up to "Alexa". The light colour changing feature is a blast. I have read about the bugs in the lights but in my opinion, it will be worth the effort to clean as they look terrific.
