Lonely Planet Oman, UAE & Arabian Peninsula: Detailed Itineraries | Travel Like a Local | Insider Tips | Covers Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Yemen, and more (Travel Guide) : Keith, Lauren, Bremner, Jade, Hussain, Tharik, Lee, Jessica, Quintero, Josephine, Walker, Jenny: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Good travel book with lots of information - Got this for my mum who’s going on holiday there. It’s got soo much information and places! The quality is like the thin paper material but that’s not a problem. Good pictures too. Would recommend for a decent travel book. Review: Miss the old Lonely Planet vibe - There’s still a lot of useful info in this guide — solid recommendations for places to stay, eat, and visit, especially if it’s your first time in the region. The layout is clear, and the maps are decent. It does a good job of covering the major highlights across multiple countries, which is no small feat. But if you’re someone who loved the older Lonely Planet style — the scruffier, more curious, slightly rebellious tone — this one might feel a bit tame. It’s more polished, more safe, and sometimes reads more like a mini brochure than a traveller’s companion. There’s less emphasis on local stories, hidden corners, and real cultural nuance. Still worth having for planning and quick reference, but I found myself wishing it had more soul.

Great overview and detail for the whole region
I liked the overview but it was out of date on restaurants etc as this is a 2019 version , needs updating

The only guide on Saudi Arabia
Now that Saudi Arabia has at last made it easier to visit I wanted a guide book and this was the only one I could find on the country although have not used it in the field. Once more people travel there I hope it will give more information on places to stay which are rather poorly done in the present edition. It is probably much better for the other countries it covers.

Overwhelming amount of information about everything! Very rich, beautifully illustrated. A must have for travelling!

I know this series very well as I have used countless guidebooks. This particular guide book on the Arabian Peninsula made places seem much more extraordinary than they actually are. As a result, the end experience was most often disappointing.

Perfeito estado !

Only bought this for the section on Oman, which has been helpful. However, there could have been better maps - especially in the Al Hajar Mountains, and more information.
