5/5
I've been wanting a new Japanese maple since my last one was destroyed but didn't want to pay $400 at a nursery for a small tree. Fast forward a few months and I'm looking at the Sequoia trees on here thinking how amazing one would be in my yard (even though I'd never see it grow that tall) but it turns out my zone is too cold for them. I started looking through this company's selection based off of zone compatibility and found the Japanese maple, which I didn't even realize they also sold at that time. It was $19 with $7 shipping, so I got a medium Japanese maple for only $26! I know I'll need to take care of it and there's no guarantee that it will survive over the years, but you can't really go wrong for that price. I got it early May and its not Aug 7th 2023 and it seems to be doing well. Keep in mind I also don't really know what I'm doing lol. All I know is that they don't like too much sun or they'll get sun burned and start browning at the tips of the leaves. See attached pic for how it's doing a few months after planting. Totally worth the price and I like the idea of growing my own vs buying one at the nursery for $500.

Adorable and healthy tree
It comes in a shipping tube so make sure to get it out ASAP and into some healthy soil. I plan on growing mine this winter in a pot with artificial sun light and then once spring starts and it's a bit larger and healthier, putting it outside since I have seen many of these trees thrive locally. it's a wonderful size, a few feet tall, and arrived basically perfect. If you are unable to afford $300 for a 5 foot tall potted japanese maple from the nursery... then this is a cost effective option for you to start your own tree from basically the bottom.

Nice little tree
Nice little maple tree, a bit tall and gangly from being in the dark box for a few days. Well packaged, healthy, thriving in a planter outside in filtered sunlight. A good purchase.

NOT FROM JONSTEEN COMPANY
I choose to only purchase trees from The Jonsteen Company for quality of trees and care taking in shipping and packing. I have purchased several trees from Japanese Maples and Evergreen and EVERY SINGLE ONE has been JAMMED into a box, arrives in poor condition, is a poorly done hack graft, and is in poor health. Not one of these trees has survived a season. So when I received this order which I thought was through Jonsteen I was dismayed to actually receive a Japanese Maples and Evergreen product. You have tarnished your reputation Jonsteen by partnering with these guys. Could not be more disappointed. The tree will probably die shortly.

Favorite to me.
I like these at your price. Although they may not be suited for Hawaii it's doing okay. I hope in spring it will take off. Only getting them so small it will take a while to develop. I just purchased more. I'd like to train them and give to friends.

Half my tree was eaten
I wish I took photos. The tree arrived healthy and so far seems to be doing great. The only issue is that about 60 to 70% of the leaves looked like they were eaten by pests. I chopped the top of the tree off since I wanted to eventually make it into a bonsai anyways. So far I can see a few new growths coming in. fingers crossed it turns into something of sheer beauty! Also the top leaves that I removed had the pink outline which was pretty dope but sadly, they were all eaten. The package did arrive quickly and came in one of the mailer tubes. A bit tough to get out but I opened both ends and used my hand to push the roots up to not damage the plant. It also came with a paper that helps you understand different bonsai types etc. All in all I am happy with it will be even happier when it grows! I plan on buying more plants from the seller as they did good!

OMG! Worth the Money! Legitttt! 🍁❤️
Okay! So I was slightly hesitant to drop 30 bucks on a tree sapling when the reviews were “decent” but not what I wanted to see… then I remembered that most people won’t take the time to post a review if they love something and figured the risk was worth it. I was SO correct! I bought this tree for my Fiancé because he has been dying for one but didn’t want to spend over $100 for one from our local shop. Alllll of these pictures were taken over the course of 6 days from arrival. 6 DAYS! Look at the growth! I am beyond impressed. The stem was much longer than expected so I purchased a “Garden Stake” from our local store for $2.50 and popped it into the pot to help straighten it out. You can also wire these tree trunks so they grow all twisted and cool looking. I have it in a ceramic pot with drainage and have been slightly watering it every day and letting it sit in the Florida sunshine and humidity. It’s taking off! I have no doubt that it’ll outgrow the pot within a few months and then I can either re-pot or plant it into the ground. Totally up to my guy! Anyways, I wanted to take the time to leave an authentic review (and to show off the beautiful leaves) and I am doing just that here! BUY THE TREE! You won’t regret it! ❤️

Going strong one year later...
Purchased on 6/5/25 and still going strong. It grew about 2 inches after I received it and six more this month. I had to research if losing all of its leaves was normal for winter and apparently it was even though it looked more so dead than in abscission. I haven't seen any red color in the leaves yet, but it might need to grow some more plus I think it had trouble interpreting what season we were in because it never really received winter weather. I came back to buy more and was sad to see they're out of stock and it isn't known when they might return.
