Can this be used to seal the inside of concrete candle vessels?

Sodium silicate, when correctly applied to concrete dramatically reduces the porosity. I don’t know what a concrete candle vessel is but going back to basics, if reduced porosity and ultimately sealing the concrete is the required property then it can be achieved with sodium silicate. It was used in concrete fuel tanks in WW2 and also to manufacture disposable aircraft fuel tanks from silicate coated cardboard drums

Is this sodium silicate the same as used when working with pottery clay makingclay

Yes this is used to reduce the viscosity of the slip without reducing the overall solids content

This is a superb product from the days before polymer chemistry. It reacts with the calcium in cement and concrete to form a hardwearing surface. Better than paint!
