The media could not be loaded. Works well in an artificial creek. It looks especially cool when it's not windy. It produces a small fountain, making it look like a geyser. When tested indoors in a bowl, it produced a bunch of mist given that it's contained and no wind. Overall, works well for a small, inexpensive gadget. We'll see how long it will last.

I put this in a plastic container that once held cookies. A 1/2 inch hole punched in the side let out the mist either directly or though a tube. I punched another 1/2 inch hole in the lid puts a small 15mm 3.3 volt fan over the hole, air flow directed inward to pressurize the container and thus force the stream of mist out of the side. Without the fan it won't work well, although you can make it blow smoke rings by tapping on the lid. The fog maker does throw up a lot of big water droplets, so it should not be directly below the fan. Mark the limits of the water level on the side of the container, per the instructions. It doesn't work well if the water is too high, and it shuts itself off if the water falls below the nub on top of the mist maker..By the way, this is definitely not made of aluminum. It is heavy, perhaps chrome plated brass. Better than aluminum.

This does work and is easy to assemble. It makes less mist or fog than is pictured.

The included instructions say to only use tap water, filtered water doesn't work. I tested and this is correct.That information is on the product page if you take the time to scroll thru it all. I was going to use as a plant mister but not sure it's healthy to diffuse unfiltered tap water on a regular basis in a bedroom for example if any impurities in the water are also air born with the the mist. Our regular home humidifiers work fine with filtered water so that indicates other diffuser products do work with filtered water. I'm looking into it.

I am so sad and disappointed in this purchase because I got these misters for our Halloween Cauldron. I had previously bought a mister from another company, but wanted 2 more to really get the smoke going, so I bought these. At first they worked like a charm, great smoke and exactly what I needed...BUT we have only been using them in the evenings for about 3 hours for the last week and they have started to erode like something not meant to go in water. I used these 2 misters plus the mister I previously bought and from the second picture, you can see there is no erosion on the one from the other company which I have used for way longer. Poor quality.

Worked okay for a few days but now it just splashes water around and doesn't make any mist. The included plastic splash cover was nice at least.
