Great for an extremely basic tea ball
My expectations for this were very low, but I thought I'd try this before I got a more spendy tea ball. I'm glad I did, because this is a great, basic tea ball. It works. It holds the tea leaves. It submerges in my hot water. It opens and closes. It makes delicious tea out of whatever I put in it. So, it does everything that I had hoped for. However, all of the criticisms about this tea ball are probably true. The clasp is a little difficult to open and close. I found the chain absolutely worthless, but I didn't want to use it anyway. Luckily, the chain is very easy to remove. The parts aren't the highest quality, and I wouldn't be surprised if it breaks in 3-6 months. But, I'll definitely get another one even when it breaks, because I think that this is great value.Pros:+Works+Chain is easily Removable+Pretty good constructionCons:-Will break after a few months

works great, but avoid the 3rd party sellers
This product is getting a lot of negative reviews, but I wonder if everyone is reviewing the exact same product. I bought mine directly from Amazon for $2.79, not one of the 3rd party China vendors that sell these for $1. The product arrived in a Prepworks-labeled plastic blister-pack. I have used it numerous times over the past month and it still looks great, with no stains or rust.I also bought a similar looking $1 product from a 3rd party seller. It looks somewhat similar, but the construction quality is noticeably worse. The clasp doesn't line up as well or grip as well. The mesh is wider, so you cannot use it with finely ground teas. This one rusted after I first washed it, before using it for any tea.

Good product, great price
I drink quite a bit of tea and I was sick of removing hot tea bags and detaching tea bag strings. I figured this was also a way to make the tea more flavorful and easily "shake out" the remaining liquid from the tea bag after I'm done seeping my tea. Yes, this tea ball serves its purpose and does all of the above.A few warnings, however (and reasons why I only give it four stars). Since it is mesh, this thing gets crushed and bent pretty easily. I was storing it in my "heavy utensil" drawer and I had to move it. I also bring mine to work every so often and it really doesn't handle the trip well, sometimes it gets smooshed. One other reviewer discussed it rusting, I haven't had this experience yet (been using it pretty often for about two months now) but it may depend how often you wash it and whether or not you put it in the dishwasher (I wash mine by hand).

Very nice actually
I don't really know why so many people are complaining...Mine came in a nice package, the metal toggle is pretty strong, and the metal pin is well, what it is supposed to be and is much thicker than some I have owned. It's more sturdy than the one you will pay 5.99 for at the grocery store that is for sure.I have a few versions of tea infusers and strainers, I don't use any of them in a mug or cup that I drink out of. I always use a 3 cup ceramic pot for shorter sessions and a full pot for long days at the drafting table. I also do not leave these stewing in the tea after the appropriate time has passed. When I clean them, which is right after use, I dry it and I never toss them in a dishwasher. I bought this one just to have for my thick bark like teas. I never use mesh for fine teas that most people are used to in teabags, I just use a reusable baggy or a large loose leaf paper bag that hooks onto a funnel (best lazy loader ever XD)Yes it is made in China but not everything from China is crap, there are legit manufacturers there >.> Sometimes you play roulette, sometimes you get a good deal. I don't expect an add-on to be something mega awesome fabulous that my grandchildren would use. :P

Works well but poor quality
I purchased mine from a third party vendor that took a while to ship. I am still using mine after a few years. It has lasted well without rusting. But, the quality is poor. The clasp does not line up well. So, it is difficult to close and clasp. The mesh is a little too wide and lets some of the smaller tea leaves out. And the hook on the end of the chain does not hook onto any mug. So, I have always have to loop mine around the handle and hook onto the chain. So, I cannot use it for travel mugs with no handle. Overall it works for me. But, is not a good quality for someone who drinks tea daily.

Improvement
This is the holder we got for the bulk chamomile flowers that we got on Amazon to make tea with and it works great. It did come apart once but it was easy to put it back together and it has worked fine ever since so we continue to use it and we like the hook that hooks onto the edge of the mason jar and the chain dangles down far enough so that the chamomile flowers that are in there can get saturated and the steeping is easy because you can just lift the hook and steep and make your tea as strong as you like. Just replace the hook on the edge of the jar and put the lid on and store it in the refrigerator. Pour a cup or glass when thirsty or just for relaxing or sleeping. We had a spoon holder with holes in it but the handle wasn't long enough so this is quite an improvement.

Durable and great for leaf teas
I have been using this tea ball twice every day in office for the last 3 months. Here are my findings.1. It shows no sign of wear. The mesh and the closure are still as good as they were when I got it.2. Does an excellent job with loose leaf tea. However when I used a blend of loose leaf and spices, some of the tiny spices made their way through the mesh into the water. But the mesh is a very tight one, so it did much better than I anticipated.3. Unlike what some other reviews said, I see absolutely no sign of rust. I guess that can also be attributed to the fact that once I finish drinking my tea, I don't leave the wet ball lying around. I immediately wash it and let it dry.4. Lot of people seem to be amused by the tea ball. I've had to explain what it is to so many people. Good way to get popular ;)5. For the price, this is a no brainer. Go get it.

Wonderful stainless steel mesh ball that works very effectively in holding and dispursing tea infussion. I bought 3 of these, kept one and gave 2 as gifts. Lots of use todate and all are still working very effecively. Great value and would certainly buy again!

Buen producto
Es fácil de usar, no queda el sabor del material. Probablemente mejor el cancho pero es buen producto con relación a su precio, que es accesible.
