Very good product.
I bake my rye bread using Great River Organic whole Grain Rye. Berries for years and the product never disappoints. The bread is delicious and rises pretty well for rye flour. The packaging is very good. Will buy it again.

Ignore the negative reviews for mycology - they’ve obviously new.
I’ve been using these rye berries as grain spawn for mycology and I’ve had great success. Yes, some grains will burst after boiling or pressure cooking but that’s to be expected (it’s less than 1% in my case). I’ve soaked for 12-36 hours with no visible mold growth, but yea they will gain a fermented kinda funk to them after a long soak, but that’s the point - you want latent spores to germinate so pressure cooking will kill them off. Dormant endospores are very heat resistant, you need them to germinate to kill them off. Anyhow, you can probably get a lot more cheaper at a tractor supply store but this was more than enough grain to last me over a year, and delivered to my door. Best deal I’ve seen for rye berries on Amazon by far, and I’m highly satisfied with the quality.

Yummy grains.
Yummy! We love these rye berries. I've bought other large bags of grains from Great River Organic Milling before, they always have great quality and a more than fair price! I enjoy having the whole grains on hand here. They last longer than ground flours, taste fantastic and having all the textual options is cool. Sometimes we cook them whole, like rice or something, sometimes we crack them and have them mixed with cracked whole oats for hearty porridge. Anytime I make a baked good, cookies, whatever, I usually throw a little handful of these in with the wheat and oat groats. When used in small amounts in baked goods where you wish a more delicate flavour that works great. We enjoy the slightly grassy (that's how I think of it) flavour of rye. Especially my husband so these rye berries are a treat. I made some black bread the other day with the majority of the flour being made up of these rye berries and oooooooh my, that did not last long. A bit of spicy mustard and sharp cheddar cheese. and we were in gourmet heaven. These sort of grains allow you to make up really fabulous and obviously nutritious meals and baked goods. I've found the grains to be clean, free of any pebbles or other inclusions, not that I ever noticed any. I store my large bag of grains in a food grade 5 gallon bucket with a gamma seal lid. So I can easily unscrew the lid, scoop out the grains I need and close it back up. Safe and secure for light, pests and air.

Good value
Clean grains, make delicious bread. Considering how difficult it is becoming to find rye and the cost of shipping I think this is a bargain.

Pleasantly surprised
I was kind of torn on whether or not to order because reviews were so mixed however, I was pleasantly surprised to see there were no bugs and little to no pieces of anything other than grain. I really wanted to start milling my own flour for my sourdough starter, but finding grain that’s organic and yet at a reasonable price is really hard. As of right now, this is the best grain that’s ready to use I have found, price and quality wise. I will continue to order from them in future, however the moment the quality changes I will update my review.
