Great Pedal
I was using a cheap pedal but it was hit or miss whether it would actually work so I bought this one from Yamaha that works perfectly. My previous pedal was not as cheap as I had thought because I had to replace it. So don't make the same mistake I made. A cheap pedal will just have to be replaced so you're not saving any money. Buy this one, it's solid.

it’s a reliable little champ!
I’ve been using the Yamaha FC4A sustain pedal with my digital piano, and honestly, it’s pretty solid. It feels close to an acoustic piano pedal—smooth and responsive, with a rubber bottom that keeps it from sliding around. Works great with my Yamaha keyboard and even my synth. One hiccup: it doesn’t have a polarity switch, so I had to mess with the power trick to fix the reverse sustain issue (pain in the butt, but it worked). It’s not the heaviest pedal, so it might shift a tad during wild sessions. Still, for the price, it’s a reliable little champ!

Dependable product
Works well in usage and, to this point, works consistently. Of note: There is no switch to change polarity, so if you plug it in and the sustain happens only when *not* pressing the pedal, leave it plugged in, turn off the keyboard, and depress the pedal while powering the keyboard back up. That should change the polarity so that the sustain works when the pedal is depressed.

Much better quality than cheaper alternatives
My daughter has been using a cheaper one for a while. This Yamaha one is much better quality, heavier and better stepping feel.

Been using it for years at my church. Bought one for myself
I really like this pedal. I’ve been using this exact model at my church ever since I was a kid. I was probably 14 when we got the pedal so that was maybe 10 years ago. It still works great and I haven’t had any issues with the functionality. The only thing that’s always bothered me about it though is that it slides around a lot on carpet. Every time I play at church, I have to readjust it and it gets destructing. I even put Velcro on the side of the pedal and the keyboard’s stand to keep it in place. The Velcro has gotten old though so it doesn’t stick as much anymore and still moves around a lot. At home though, my room has a laminate floor so the rubber bottom seems to be able to grip a lot better. The pedal I have at home doesn’t seem to move around as much as the church pedal does. Very durable pedal. Does what it’s supposed to.

Amazing Quality Sustain Pedal!
This pedal is worth every penny! The set up is seamless and quite self explanatory. There are no creaks or weird/unwanted noises from the pedal when it pumped while playing. It’s build quality is exceptional, and stays put on the carpet really well. It doesn’t seem to be made of that cheap, lightweight plastic a lot of the universal pedals are made with. It’s got some weight to it’s base and the pedal itself is weighted quite well so that you do have to put a considerable amount of pressure on it to get it to go down, which is perfect for those of us enthusiastic players! It is not equipped with a Polarity Switch but in my opinion, it doesn’t need one. I own a Yamaha PSR-EW300 and as soon as it was out of the box and plugged in, it worked right away. If you are using it with another brand of keyboard I’d do more research into what pedal would work best for your board and if you’d need one with a Polarity Switch. This pedal is a little bit more pricey than some of the other pedals, after taxes and everything it costed me $31.34 but it’s worth that extra $5 to $10 as it will definitely last longer than majority of the cheaper quality pedals and the sound quality is better as well. Just as a side note, I did receive my pedal with some sort of sticky stuff stuck to it, but a swipe of some Goo Gone and it was history! Another great Yamaha product!
