Learn to prepare Review: New go-to cookbook for healthy meals! - I cannot speak highly enough about this cookbook!!!!! I love this book for so many reasons: Julia packs so much flavor into the recipes (compared to other paleo cookbooks I've cooked from), her directions are precise, the ingredients she uses aren't too out of the ordinary/difficult to find but there is still some expansion of herb/spice repertoire for me (which I appreciate a lot!) and there's a pretty wide variety of dishes! I've also found that most of the recipes can be modified to be Whole 30 compliant even if she doesn't provide that modification, which is a huge bonus for me! I've made at least two dishes from this every week since I received it and have yet to be disappointed by any recipe. I have eaten out significantly less because I am making such tasty meals at home and have been really excited to try new dishes each week. I don't have any criticisms about the book, Julia has done an amazing job! Review: Easy, tasty recipes - I try to eat mostly vegetables, meats/fish, and fruit and will occasionally do a Whole30 so I'm always looking for cookbooks that fit that way of eating. I bought the Kindle version when it was first released and cooked pretty consistently from it for about a week and then purchased the hardback because I liked it so much. In fact, I'm looking at the menu I just made for the week and I have all but one dinner planned from this book. The recipes are relatively straight forward --some are quick, some are more time consuming, but that's probably true of most cookbooks that are worth using. Last week, everything was prepared after a full day's work and each dish took 30-45 minutes to prepare and clean up. Also, don't let the "bowls" in the title throw you off. I haven't had one of the recipes in a bowl yet --salads, protein + side, etc. These aren't the silly acai bowls you see advertised at juice bars.

Easy, tasty recipes

Great recipes- nutrition info missing
This is a nice book with a variety of recipes that arenโt too complicated. My only issue with it is that there are no nutritional values listed. I like to know my macro counts and I donโt think a cookbook should ever leave this out this information. Other than that I look forward to trying several of these.

Solid recipes for autoimmune sufferers
This is fantastic. I love Bowls because you could just throw everything in and cook it up. This is such an easy recipe book. Anybody can do it. Beautiful pictures, the food is exactly what you need, and yes, I think a lot of it is easy. Every once in awhile you'll come across some ingredients that you might not keep in the house, so you can either plan or substitute. I have ulcerative colitis so this really helps me on clean eating.

Creative ways to get your veggies!
If you are looking for new and fun ways to pack more vegetables into your diet, this is a great purchase. Juliaโs blog is one of my go-to places for nutrient dense recipes, and this book keeps that going. The recipes are creative and each recipe includes several adaptations to adjust to specific dietary needs or preferences. The Quick Moroccan Chicken Stew w/ Ginger Turmeric Rice and the Vegan Mushroom Soup are on repeat in my house. The Beet Green Pesto and the Roasted Beet and Walnut Pesto are to die for!

Paleo is a Stretch
Overall, this is might be an enjoyable cookbook for the right person. Each recipe has a photo, which is much appreciated. It's geared to meals meant to fit the newer big Bowl concept, which is what I was looking for. It also is Paleo (mostly, sort of) and also addresses FODMAPs. She does use rice, quinoa and potatoes, which is not completely unaccepted in all Paleo recommendations, and she does recommend that we test ourselves for blood sugar issues if we want to use those foods, which is important for someone like me who would love to eat rice and potatoes, but would pay dearly. She also uses a whole lot of fruit throughout, which is also a blood sugar issue as well as often as often a FODMAP issue. The book is not well aligned regarding FODMAPs. Her sources and her experience must be quite different than mine. For instance she labels one recipe called Mango Cashew Chicken as Low-FODMAP. It absolutely totally is not. There are minor amounts of almond butter and chili garlic sauce, but major components include 4 cloves of garlic, 1.5 cups of mango, 1 cup raw cashews, all high FODMAP foods, and all of which cause gut pain for me. Mango feels like ground glass in my gut within 20 minutes of consuming and lasts for a couple of days. I highly recommend a FODMAP app by Monash University. Quick check for most foods. Many of the dishes in this cookbook are vegan or vegetarian, saying that if you want to bump the protein, add animal protein. Duh... This cookbook might be a good resource for vegans or vegetarians who want to eat closer to Paleo. The last disappointment is the almost ubiquitous use of "pure maple syrup", even in many main dishes. I realize that some people aren't as sensitive to sugar as I am, but I find it really annoying when Paleo cookbooks include maple syrup, honey, coconut sugar, dates, etc, etc, etc, as if it's not sugar. It's sugar. Maple syrup, even "pure maple syrup", is sugar. Dates have a teeny tiny bit of fiber, almost non-existent amounts of protein and fats, and are almost entirely sugar. Using maple syrup and dates will still kick up an insulin response. It's still sugar, sugar, sugar.

My Go-To Book
This is by far my favorite cookbook, i find myself often coming back and making my family means over and over again because they are so easy to make and packed with flavor. I like how she offers adaptations to be flexible with the readers dietary restrictions that are outside of paleo parameters. Yeah sometime she uses grains like rice, but you can easily see and know thats not considered paleo and replace with your favorite grain free alternative.

Great book. Use is all the time
One of the best books Iโve ever read. A recipe book I will actually use. The recipes are awesome. If you like the rice/Buddha bowl meal this is a great purchase. No strange ingredients. Lots of veggies options.
