Sturdy and heavy
I bought and installed the Champion 440# hoist to lift a heavy 14.5 canoe close to the ceiling in my garage. I wanted to be able to back my trailer (converted to hold a canoe and kayak) into the garage and then hoist the canoe up without doing the lifting myself (I'm over 60 and no longer interested in lifting heavy things over my head). It was admittedly a chore to install on the ceiling by myself due to it's weight and the lack of a ladder that was the optimum height. I ended up going into the attic and placing a 2x6 board and 5' length of unistrut ($18 for a ten foot section at a local electrical supply store) across the roof joists and drilling holes to the ceiling below. I used a half dozen 7" long bolts (3/8" inch) and washers/nuts to connect a similar sized piece of unistrut (the other half of the ten foot piece I cut in two) below. The trick was to leave a half inch gap and the bolt on the end out of the way so I could slip the hoist mounting brackets between the ceiling and the unistrut while I was perched precariously on the ladder (Yes, it would have been easier and safer to have a helper but I was without that day). I previously cut a slit in the ceiling and used a pulley/strap contraption inside the attic to lift and suspend the hoist close to the ceiling so I could slip it onto the unistrut from below and tighten the bolts afterwards. Before tightening, I slipped off the strap that was holding it up close to the ceiling. After tightening all the bolts and checking for safety, I attached some straps below and through the canoe thwarts and tried it out. Very smooth. I added a swivel ring so I could easily rotate the canoe and line it up the way I wanted (to avoid the garage door opener and ceiling fan). Just hope it lasts as many years as I want and need the canoe.

Solid
Solid and well constructed Hoist. This Champion Electric Hoist is a great addition to any workshop or hobby space. Mounting brackets and bolts, along with lifting hooks and instructions are included in a well padded box. I only had to supply the mounting bar, which was a length of 1 5/8" Superstrut.

I was looking at a lot other options like the poles installed in the hitch of the truck
I ordered this winch so that I can lift heavy things off (if/when necessary) of my truck including my deer after any successful hunts. I was looking at a lot other options like the poles installed in the hitch of the truck, ratchet system, manual winch etc. but they were either too complicated to install/adapt to my garage setting, or kinda expensive. So I figured I should get something already pre-assembled and easy t use. So! I got this winch. The price was really acceptable and in my range, but the thing was, my house is built in a way that the installation would be a breeze. After some measurements and a short trip to Lowe's, I got two 2"x8" wood planks,4 threaded rods, 5 wood screws and bunch of nuts and washers. I did not install it according the manufacturer because I had access to ceiling. So basically I put a flat 2x8 across several joists and threaded the four long bolts through the ceiling into the garage. From underneath I put another 2x8 plank and then I bolted the unit to the threaded rods. Went back up to the attic and tightened them up until the unit was well fixed against the ceiling. The two 2x8"s act like a sandwich and fixed it over three joists (look at the image attached to this review). Then fixed the 2x8: with some wood screws and voila - it was ready to use. Powerful enough to take my deer of the bed of the truck and let me clean it. Awesome product for a reasonable price. I hope the images help other people asking how to install it to the ceiling.

Was it worth it??
Well, I was shopping around for a hoist for my attic. I needed to have the ability to move loads in and out but not necessarily be a permanent fixture up there. I saw the Vevor branded ones and read the reviews, which showed a lot of product failures and poor customer support. I actually saw this one on a Youtube video highlighting it's abilities and the potential downsides. This is just my review, so by all means, do not take it as the gospel's word.PRO's:The price is reasonable for the amount of lifting power 400lbs single hooked/800lbs double-hooked.It is easily transportable and compact enough to not be a pain in the ass to position. The 120v 3 prong cord was long enough (with an extension cord) to reach where I needed. The overall construction is beefy and robust for the cost of the hoist.CON's:The control pedestal was very short (not a huge problem) but may be annoying to those needing to move bulky items while standing out of the way.The control only has one speed up and down, meaning you have to anticipate swing and drop more often when trying to position objects.Overall: The hoist is well put together and has mounting options for just about everybody. I used it to offload a couple of old hotwater heaters from the attic which was done relatively easy with this versus the alternative of smashing fingers and busting my ass trying to lower it down the attic stairs! The one speed control was a bit of a problem when the hook is close to the upper limit switch bar, as one little press will push it up and shut off the hoist (a problem I suspect alot of the negative reviewers to have and not realize). Just lower down a bit and it will reset the hoist. If you are looking for a lower cost hoist but do not want to chance it on a really lower price that will probably break(Vevor), then this Champion Power Equipment Hoist is right up your alley. I have other tasks I am going to use it for but I am satisfied with my purchase which is hard to say in this day and age of cheap knock-offs. Spend the $150 and feel better about a useful product.

Made roofing possible
I made a ramp going up to the roof and bolted the Hoist to it. I was able to load up the cart and push a button to run it up the ramp. I did two roofs with it, paid for itself 10 times over.

This will make it so much easier to hoist a deer !
The media could not be loaded. Im planning on using this to hang my deer for processing.
