Littlefair's Wood Stain Water-Based - (Black Ebony) – Non-Toxic, Eco-Friendly & Quick Drying - Easy-to-Apply, Concentrated Formula for All Wood Types – 250ml

This is by far the best stain I have used so far. I applied this with a sponge brush and it gave outstanding results. It is so easy to apply and re - coat. I have never used a stain that is so forgiving in respect to the application, brush directions and going over it again when it is still wet make no difference, when it dries and it does so very quickly it leaves an unblemished uniform finish. I was staining light oak to black and this took a lot of coats to achieve the shade of black I wanted, but I didn’t find this a problem as the coats went on so easily and dries quickly between coats. Unlike other stains i have used you can literally go over areas that you have just stained and it doesn’t matter at all, it just soaks into the wood leaving a perfect finish. When using the foam brush I noticed it left a few tiny bubbles in some areas, so I went over the area again while still wet, but it still left a couple behind. I decided to leave them to see what it looked like when dry. It dried to a perfect finish. I thoroughly recommend this product and will purchase again.

Easy to use but read instructions about pouring some out into a container, mixing well and painting at a good speed. 250ml gave 12 skirting boards two coats. Photos (taken outdoors in bright sunlight) show some with 1 coat and some with 2 coats. After 2 coats you can still see the grain nicely and is a anthracite grey. The liquid is watery but this is not a problem, it covers well.

Good product but requires a lot of coats to give a black finish. This can be rather expensive if its the finish you're looking for. Good thing about it though is there's a variety of brown shades you can get out of it depending on the amount of coats you apply. Doesn't take so well denser grain. Easy to clean brushes as it's water based and no smell.

Bought to stain black chess pieces a couple of coats of this stain allows the grain to show through with a good black finish. Easy to clean and remove from hands if splashed on. The finish is a matt black which looks very attractive

This Ebony stain is a great product. It did a fantastic job on my 115 year old piano and stool that was in desperate need of sone loving treatment. The picture without the candle sconces is pre treatment, and the picture with candle sconces is post Littlefair’s Ebony stain and Satin varnish, which just loosened the varnish up a little and made it easier to apply and get a smooth finish. I did a few coats of Ebony stain once I’d sanded and washed the piano down, then I found that I got the smoothest varnish results by adding a dash of the Ebony stain to the varnish and sponging this on to the piano in one smooth movement from left to right in order to avoid streaks (Sometimes brushes leave streaks), and to maintain a nice shine. It was also lovely to not have to contend with horrible fumes! Thank you!

Label advises 3 to 4 coats when it should say 4 to 5 coats to achieve a dark black. Not very good on anything that has had a previous alternative stain, even though sanded back the finish would show/look different on any areas that hadn't been sanded fully ie corners/grooves. However on new untreated timber was finish was good, just used a lot more than expected.

Amazing dye. Leaves the grains visible and the colour is sublime. Very easy to apply and is also idiot proof so don’t worry about not getting even spread, it dries all evenly. Best applying using a brush rather than sponge. Definitely purchasing more.

I used this to stain the top of a walnut bandsaw box in the shape of a miniature Dachshund in order to make the profile stand out. It worked well though it soaks it very very quickly so you have to work fast if you want to keep a wet edge. I had a few patches that were darker the others so I gave them a light rub down to even things out. Finished with a couple of coats of Danish Oil. Other picture shown is a sample I tried finished with one coat of satin hard wax oil. Instructions that came with it on a leaflet are the best I've come across and do give some helpful tips to get the best finish. Bottle will probably last me ages. Very easy to wash out of the paint brush as it's water based.

Police Box Blau: Super stark deckend, auf hellem Holz sieht es aus wie königsblaue Tinte, sehr schön. Sehr Rotes Mahagoni: Nicht so stark deckend aber sehr schönes, blutrotes Ergebnis. Braunes Mahagoni: Wie Abgebildet, nicht so meins aber funktioniert. Schwarzes Ebenholz: Schwach deckend, braucht meist mehrere Schichten, sonst wirkt es nur "dreckig". Auch das Endergebnis ist nicht so toll finde ich eigentlich nicht anders als Lack, da die Maserung verschwindet wenn es "schwarz" ist und sonst, wie gesat, sieht es einfach nur "dreckig" aus. Eisenstein Grau: Extre stark deckend aber sieht nicht gut aus, nicht wie abgebildet, sondern einfach nur grau, keine Maserung, fast wie Lack. Und das grau sieht aus wie Zement.

Resa e lavorabilità molto buona. L'ho usato per un mobiletto fatto con pannelli melaminici bianchi, e con un paio di mani ha coperto egregiamente. Anche la finitura è gradevole al tatto.

Facile da applicare inodore e si asciuga rapidamente,sono molto soddisfatto del risultato.

Il colore risulta molto intenso (ho dato solo due mani su un legno abbastanza chiaro) e brillante, di facile assorbimento e soprattutto ne basta poco per avere comunque una resa ottima anche su superfici più grandi. È abbastanza liquido, quindi bisogna stare attenti alle sbavature che, non tolte subito, potrebbero lasciare un po' di alone, ma è normale con questo tipo di prodotto. Lascia visibili le venature naturali del legno dando sfumature diverse che con le lacche, inevitabilmente, si perderebbero. È inodore, quindi non da fastidio durante la stesura né dopo, contrariamente ad altri prodotti colorati che permeano il legno lasciando un odore a volte quasi di chimico. Lo riprenderò siciramente
