IONIL T Shampoo 16 Ounces (1 Bottle )

My pediatrician recommended this brand to help my child with severe scalp itching caused by psoriasis. I couldn't find it in a local store, so I initially settled on another brand labeled specifically for scalp psoriasis. When that brand didn't work (nor did Head and Shoulders- we'd tried that already, too), I ordered the recommended product here.The shortened version is that yes- this works. We are sold and will continue using it. I have found that we really have to be on a schedule with it- every two days, or the itching comes back. (Kind of expected, but worth noting.) When the itching is really bad, I do two rounds of the shampoo and make sure it sits on her head for a minute or so before rinsing. Before we had this (and when we're bad about keeping up with he schedule) the itch gets so bad that my daughter scratches her scalp until it bleeds. :/ While gross, I think it's important to mention it because if it can calm such a severe itch in a child, it should be able to help anyone who is dealing with scalp psoriasis.As far as other aspects of it goes, this isn't a regular shampoo. There's no big lather, no fun bubbles (which matters for kids), and it reaks. I might try adding tea tree oil to ours to see if it helps. The shampoo itself has a very potent aroma, but it doesn't stick around long at all, so it's not a big deal. But, this isn't a product one purchases for the sake of vanity or cosmetics- you get it because you need it, and it works.

After trying 10+ Shampoos and creams to help relieve psoriasis over the past 2 years I was introduced to this about 4 months ago by a family member. It has helped so much, it is the only thing that has given me relief! After using it the past few months it has actually made patches of my psoriasis go away completely. I feel I don't have to hide my scalp anymore! I love it! So happy for this product!

This shampoo came highly recommended to me by someonehalf my age for my scalp psoriasis. I don't like how it doesn'tlather up and it is very watery. Not worth the $35 I paid for it at all!

I've used it for decades. Ionil came in two formulations and I did like the other formulation better that came in a light brown bottle, but apparently that has been taken off the market years ago. The Ionil T shampoo works great and hope they continue to sell it through Amazon for the RX stores do not offer it on their shelves any more. At one time you needed a prescription for Ionil Shampoo!

This product changed my life. Ever since I had hit puberty (like 15 years ago), I began to develop really bad dandruff on my head. I tried many different shampoos and washing techniques but the only way for me to get rid of my dandruff was to dye my hair. The chemicals in the dye would burn off the dandruff and I would have a nice scalp for like...... 2 days. A coworker of mine suggested that I try this product. I bought it and I've only used it 3 times so far and my dandruff is basically gone. And the bottle is a bit pricey but you literally use a small amount so the bottle will last a really long time. I know what you might be thinking, "A small amount, really? I'll probably have to use half the bottle for one treatment." No! Not at all. I have super curly hair myself and I'm always like "yeah, right" when I'm told to use a small amount, but a little bit goes a long way with this product. It is also a straight liquid, not like your regular shampoo, so don't make the same mistake I did the first time, and pour very tiny amount of it into your hands so you don't waste any.But overall, very pleased with this item and I highly recommend it for people that suffer from dandruff or any skin condition on your scalp.

I've used Ionil T for 40+ Years and it was always great. Until Now. They changed the formula and now it makes my scalp itch and flake. I have hunted for other products - detergent free or specifically for psoriasis/seborrheic dermatitis without success. None is comparable to the OLD Ionil T. So far I have tried Bioderma NoDe, EarthMama Natural Non-Scents Body Wash & Shampoo, Grandpa's Pine Tar, and J R Liggett's Original Formula Soap Bar. (The last, whose ingredients are all oils, is great for body but causes flaking that increases with each use until after a few weeks there was a blizzard of flakes on my shoulders all the time.) At the moment I am using the new Ionil T as the least of these evils. Looking for suggestions! The old formula was non-ionic/cationic, pH matched to scalp, and had no laur-compounds, no sulfates, nothing detergent. (The new Ionil T has laureth-4 and laureth 23.) My guess is that the beneficial ingredient were the tar and salicylic acid. It's so sad when a manufacturer makes something good but then, maybe because of mergers and acquisitions and retirements, loses any institutional memory about why the product was well-suited for its intended purpose.

Its ok but not like the original ionil-t shampoo that I've purchased previously!

This is the stuff my dad used when I was growing up. They don't sell it anywhere in California and that bothered me until Amazon came along and they always have it.Every man in my family has the same scalp condition and If I listened to my father earlier I would probably have more hair.I tried the popular brand of coal tar shampoo and it just didn't work. I get itching then scabbing then the scabs fall out with the hair.I won't say what that brand is so I'll just remain Neutra L.I use this product every day and it has my condition under control.I still have hair on most of my head and I don't scratch. I like the smell now and if you repeat it will give full lather. I leave it in for 5 minutes before I rinse. I order right when I open the bottle to be sure the spare bottle is waiting for me.
