Q: Can this be used directly on electric stove top for boiling rice for 10 to 20 minutes?

I do the 20 minute rice all the time, but when you turn the heat down to simmer after reaching a boil, don’t leave the kitchen. I watch my pot until I see for sure I’m not boiling the pot dry. My rice is perfect every time. I do remove my pot to a cold burner after it reaches nearly dry or 20 mins. which ever comes first, because even a warm burner can break your pot if all moisture is gone.

Q: I am hoping to use this to make mung porridge but must must bring beans to boil first - can this pot withstand high heat for 5 min ?

I have not actually used the pot on a stove top, only in the microwave. The description does say it is safe up to 570 F so it should be fine.

Q: Can you use this on an open flame gas stove?

I did till I cracked mine. Glass is very thin, it does not handle temperature change well. I didn't order another one because I didn't get a years use out of the first one, and I'm not so sure that borsilicate glass is the best stuff to cook with.

Q: Can this be use on stoves that has burners?

I have burners and I have used it a few times. However, after my third attempt- it broke right there on the stove. The glass is extremely thin. I think that once heat catches it (burners or not) it will eventually break. It was a waste of my money.
