This mask is excellent
I took welding courses in high school and have done a considerable amount in the 30 years since, but never professionally and I am not certified. I would say I’m a very good amateur welder.I bought this mask because my various adjustable auto-darkening masks always leave me having trouble seeing the work. Either the tint is wrong (even adjustable) or it’s such an off color that I just can’t tell what’s what in a consistent manner. I should point out that I’m mostly colorblind. My kids asked why I need a full-color mask if I can’t see colors anyway (little punks!) but it makes a big difference! I’ve been able to see my work clearly and the auto on/off feature works well. In direct sunlight it sometimes forgets to flick back to clear, but nothing so badly as my other helmets. And the huge view is awesome!!I’ve only been using this a few days - will update again if anything changes.

Great Helmet - Couldn't say enough good about it
Excellent - My first auto lens - This thing is too cool and appears to be one of the better ones - It is quick to darken and quick to return to not dark, virtually instantaneous - Good viewing during welding and afterward - Really like the side screens to know what's going on around me while under the hood - This thing is everything I imagined - Good head band and as comfortable as possible for such a helmet hanging off your face - Highly recommend this excellent helmetUpdate - Now 1.5 years after getting this helmet I still can't say enough good about it - And the solar charger is very helpful - My welding buddies loves it too - I'd buy it again if needed

Wow, the view.
Ok, this is going to take a minute as I hate short "Great helmet" reviews that don't tell you squat. This is the Panoram “B” (there is an “A” version (more money and not much difference), not offered by Amazon or Tool Guy Republic). The helmet has a huge viewing area, not counting the sides. It is clear and bright in all DIN states, slight blue-ish tint when welding (might be from my welding arc) that highlights the peaks and valleys (not the green tint that most filters have that seems almost 2 dimensional). By the way, only the front filter dims to your selected DIN... the side filters dim to DIN 10 (The “A” is 11) and are not adjustable. The panoramic view (for me) helps before welding to set up and find my place in the universe. It does not help me when I am welding as the view through the front filter is much bigger than I am used to and more than large enough to see what is coming up and to see where I am going. Plus, I have never done any off camber welding. You can see MUCH better with this helmet - so your welds are so much better. The controls do not seem to be affected by weld splatter/debris but that may be just me and my welding style. The head gear is O.k. - comfortable and very adjustable but not real great quality. If you use the helmet a lot then you will probably need to replace it at some point due to it wearing out or breaking. This is why I do not give it five stars. The controls and switches are fairly adjustable with gloves on BUT I do not grind with my $200 welding helmet, I have a $20 shield. There are better and worse helmets out there, but you get what you pay for. It just depends on how much you want to spend. FYI Amazon has this same helmet in "matte carbon fiber WITH a top cover for the controls. It is the exact same helmet as this but it is not AS shinny. I would have gotten it but I found it after this was shipped. The carbon fiber look (the helmet is actually a tough nylon) does not show scratches like solid black can. The helmet is designed so that if/when you set the helmet, visor side down, on a flat surface the visor will not make contact with the surface and get scratched – nice unadvertised feature. The sensors are inset a little into the helmet by 1/8”- I wish they were flush. I have not had a problem with them it is just a personal wish. Hope this helps a little. Buy it... buy it now. Your eyes/safety are worth it... and you can see!

Incredible visibility..!!
I had a Miller Elite Platinum and this shield here is as good or better than the Miller… and for a third of the price… hands down an awesome shield… Every welder needs one…!!

Pretty awesome
Bought this to replace my 18-year-old small window hood. This thing is great. Huge field of view, and really handy under the car when I don't have room to turn my head to look out the front window. Was also surprised to see it come with an extra set of lens covers.

Amazing view.
I only use this helmet for tig welding, and that's only 10% of my regular work. The tru-view is so clear, it's a night and day difference from my Miller elite. The panoramic view,....is nice, although not really more beneficial while welding like I thought it would be.My only complaint. With the extra lens inside, light that comes in from the top (while helmet is down) seems to reflect more. Making it quite bright inside the helmet while welding. Easily fixed with a rag, until I fasten a piece of leather more permanently.

The view is nice, but the flickering drives me mad.
I didn't really NEED a panoramic helmet, but I thought that was a cool innovation and wanted to try it out for that price. There are some times where I thought that large viewing area would be nice and not so claustrophobic -which it is. This viewing area is is huge! In theory, I could just leave this hood down while I'm working for hours and it wouldn't bother me.Here's the catch: The auto-darkening electronics are blinky. When working outside, the slightest bit of glare, or sunlight anywhere in the field of view sets it off. It seemed to go dark every time I went to look at my work area. Which was infuriating. I tried adjusting the sensitivity and ended up messing with all the controls. Nothing helped. I had to switch to my other helmet- which worked fine in these outdoor conditions.I would guess that in an indoor shop situation with normal, table top working positions and consistent lighting this helmet would perform fine. Maybe. But I would not get this thing if you plan on working outdoors in weird positions and dynamic lighting- like under a car or trailer. That's my best guess.
